PROBE FOR SELECTIVELY CHARACTERIZING ENZYMES INVOLVED IN XENOBIOTIC METABOLISM AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
Activity-based probes that can be used to selectively identify and characterize enzymes that are involved in different phases of xenobiotic metabolism in a host and its microbiota population(s) are described. The activity-based probes described specifically label only their target active enzymes involved in xenobiotic metabolism and therefore provide a measurement of true protein functional activity rather than transcript or protein abundance. The activity-based probes also provide multimodal profiling of these active enzymes. Methods for preparing the activity based probes and exemplary methods for their use also are disclosed.
Detection of symmetrical dimethylarginine
The disclosure generally relates to the detection of symmetrical dimethylarginine (SDMA). More particularly, the disclosure relates to the detection of SDMA using a solid phase. The disclosure provides devices, reagents, kits and methods for detecting symmetrical dimethyl arginine (SDMA) in sample, such as a biological sample from an animal. The method includes detecting the presence or amount of SDMA in the sample by using an immunoassay format, such as a competitive immunoassay. The assay includes the use of antibodies to SDMA that are specific for SDMA and that have less affinity for other arginine derivatives.
Dye-based liquid reagent volume indicator for use in analyte detection assays
Devices, kits, and methods are disclosed for use in detecting a concentration of an analyte of interest in a patient's liquid test sample. The devices, kits, and methods employ the use of one or more solid reagent zones that includes at least one analytical reagent for detection of an analyte of interest. The solid reagent zone(s) also includes at least one dye for determining whether results obtained from the diagnostic assay for the at least one analyte of interest are biased or inaccurate due to a loss of volume of a liquid reagent during the dispensing of the liquid reagent.
Devices, compositions and methods for imaging with raman scattering
Methods, systems and computer-accessible medium for imaging a living cell or a living organism with bond-edited compounds using stimulated Raman scattering are disclosed. The method comprises the steps of introducing one or more bond-edited compounds into a live cell or a living organism, and detecting a vibrational tag in the cell or organism with stimulated Raman scattering. Also disclosed are methods for detecting a disease condition in a subject, methods for monitoring treatment for a disease condition, methods for screening an agent, methods for tracing a cellular process in a live cell using bond-edited compounds in combination with stimulated Raman scattering. Also disclosed are a composition for labeling a target cell with at least one bond-edited compound and devices for imaging bond-edited compounds by stimulated Raman scattering.

Ionic polymers comprising fluorescent or colored reporter groups
Polymers comprising first and second fluorescent or colored moieties on the polymer backbone and two or more charged moieties on the polymer backbone between the first and second colored or fluorescent moieties are provided. The polymers are useful as fluorescent or colored dyes. Methods associated with preparation and use of such polymers are also provided.
Methods for measuring oxidative stress in human body fluids
Provided is, as an attempt to realize a method for measuring oxidative stress in human body fluids, a means for measuring reactive oxygen species containing a color indicator that detects the amount of reactive oxygen species present in the human body by causing a color change through reaction with malondialdehyde present in the urine or blood. The detection means has advantages of detecting malondialdehyde (MDA) present at a low concentration in a sample (urine or blood) and exhibiting excellent discrimination owing to high detection sensitivity.
NOVEL THYROID PEROXIDASE AUTOANTIBODY IMMUNOASSAY
Disclosed herein are immunoassays for detecting an anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody in a biological sample from a subject and/or diagnosing a thyroid disease in a subject. The disclosed immunoassays employ a recombinant cynomolgus monkey thyroid peroxidase (rTPO) and assess the level of anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody-induced formation or disruption of complexes comprising a solid support and the rTPO.
Selective near-infrared optical imaging of necrotic cells and simultaneous cell fixing and counter staining with metallacrown complexes
A method for selective labelling of necrotic cells including incubating the cells in a solution including a Ln(III)Zn.sub.16(HA ligand).sub.16 metallacrown complex, wherein the HA ligand is a hydroximate ligand.
