The back plate assembly contains a back plate and a reinforcing plate fixed to a back side of the back plate. The reinforcing plate has a hollowed out pattern with a number of connected reinforcing ribs. A backlight module and a display device incorporating the back plate assembly are also disclosed. The reinforcing plate is designed and manufactured separately and then fixed to the back plate. The reinforcing ribs and engraved openings are integrated on the reinforcing plate, achieving superior capability to withstand deformation and flexibility in customization to suit the need and appearance of various backlight modules and display devices.

A display device includes a display panel and an illumination section that illuminates the display panel. The illumination section includes: a light guide plate having a first surface and a second surface facing each other; a light source facing an end surface of the light guide plate; an adhesive layer formed adjacent to the first surface of the light guide plate and having substantially the same refractive index as a refractive index of the light guide plate; and a light reflection layer bonded to the first surface of the light guide plate with at least the adhesive layer in between.

Provided is a circuit board including: a support substrate; a plurality of light emitting devices mounted on the support substrate; and a device protection portion surrounding one of the light emitting devices, or three or more surfaces of the plurality of light emitting devices.

A display device includes a display panel, a light source which generates light, a light guide plate which receives the light and guides the light to the display panel, the light guide plate defining a side surface thereof, an accommodating member accommodating the light source and the light guide plate therein, the accommodating member including a sidewall, and a fixing member in plural between the sidewall of the accommodating member and the side surface of the light guide plate. The fixing member defines a supporting portion thereof contacting the side surface of the light guide plate, fixing portions fixed to the sidewall of the accommodating member and spaced apart from each other, and a connecting portion provided in plural and connecting an end among opposing ends of the supporting portion to a fixing portion among the fixing portions, the fixing portion forming an acute angle with the connecting portion.

A patterned light guide structure includes a transparent substrate with a first side and with a second side, an anti-reflective layer directly attached to the first side, a first light-shielding layer directly disposed on the anti-reflective layer, a second light-shielding layer directly disposed on the second side, and a protecting layer directly disposed on the first light-shielding layer to keep the first light-shielding layer from any deteriorating damage.

A display apparatus includes a display panel which generates and display an image with light, the display panel curved at a first mean curvature with respect to a bending axis and defining a display surface thereof at which the image is displayed; a backlight unit includes a light source which generates the light, and a curved light guide plate which receives the light from the light source and provides the received light to the display panel, the light guide plate; and a protection member in which the backlight unit is accommodated, the protection member curved at a second mean curvature with respect to the bending axis, the second mean curvature being different from the first mean curvature.

According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel, a cover panel, a container case fixed to the cover panel and covering the liquid crystal display panel, and a backlight unit disposed in the container case and opposed to the liquid crystal display panel. The container case includes a bottom wall, and a sidewall directly opposed to at least one edge of the backlight unit with a gap interposed therebetween. At least one of a reflective sheet, light guide plate, and optical sheet of the backlight unit is opposed to the sidewall of the container case with the gap interposed therebetween, and is contained in the container case in a relatively displaceable manner with respect to the container case and the liquid crystal display panel.

A light guide plate including a main body of the light guide plate, and a buffer layer and a reflective layer integrally formed on a lower surface of the main body in sequence, and an upper surface of the main body is provided with a plurality of scattering netted dots. The present disclosure further provides a display device.

A billboard which is formed as a dasher board (600) and adapted for use in a video content replacement system (400) is described. The dasher board (600) comprises at least one non-visible radiation source (604) arranged to emit non-visible radiation toward a light guide plate (602). The light guide plate (602) is arranged to distribute the non-visible radiation over the light guide plate (602) and radiate the non-visible radiation away from the dasher board (600). An area of the light guide plate (602) over which non-visible light is distributed from is correlated to an area of the dasher board (600) which is to be replaced in the video content replacement system (400). There is also described is a billboard (700) similarly adapted for use in a video content replacement system (400) and which comprises an electronic display, as well as a method of retrofitting an existing billboard (10) ready for use in a video content replacement system (400).

An illuminating unit includes a light-guiding section including a plurality of light-guiding plates, in which the light-guiding plates are stacked in a thickness direction and each have a light entrance section and a light output surface, a plurality of light sources that output light toward the light entrance sections of the respective light-guiding plates of the light-guiding section, and a substrate that supports the plurality of light sources and on which a circuit section is disposed, in which the circuit section drives each of the light sources. A first portion, on which the circuit section is disposed, of the substrate is disposed in opposition to a back surface of the light-guiding section.
