APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ASSISTING A PATIENT FROM SITTING TO STANDING POSITION
A method and apparatus for assisting a patient from a sitting to standing position is disclosed, which includes: a base having caster wheels; a double scissors truss; a first motor operable to cause the double scissor truss to extend/retract vertically from the base; a first middle frame connected to the double scissor truss; a second middle frame hingedly connected to the front side of the first middle frame and is configured to be raised at an angle with the first middle frame; a seat member having a curved protrusion configured to assist the patient.
MODULAR SEAT APPARATUSES FOR WHEELCHAIR ASSEMBLIES
A modular seat apparatus includes a base cushion and a back cushion that includes a plurality of segments defining a longitudinal length of the back cushion. The back cushion is pivotably coupled to the base cushion such that the back cushion is oriented at an angle relative to the base cushion. The plurality of segments is configured to translate in response to the back cushion pivoting relative to the base cushion such that the longitudinal length of the back cushion decreases as the angle increases and the longitudinal length of the back cushion increases as the angle decreases.
Multi-layered cushioning support
Multi-layer cushion supports are described which may generally comprise a first support having a first contact surface for contacting a portion of a body and a second surface opposite to the first surface, the first support defining a central chamber and a peripheral chamber surrounding the central chamber, wherein the first support is filled with a first gas or liquid and a second support attached to the first support along the first contact surface. The second support may be filled with a second gas or liquid which is relatively more viscous than the first gas or liquid. In particular, the first support may be filled with a volume of air and the second support may be filled with oil which is less than the volume of air.
DEVICE FOR SUPPORTING A PERSON
A support device has a main support surface for a person's body, including an auxiliary device influencing the main support surface shape. The auxiliary device includes: a group of supports supporting the main support surface, positioned on the side of the main support surface facing away from the body-supporting side, the supports each including a sub-support surface; an adjuster for each sub-support surface influencing the height of each sub-support surface. The device also includes a monitor for each sub-support surface monitoring the height of the respective sub-support surface; and a programmable control unit controlling the adjuster. The supports include an elastically bendable plate connected to the adjuster. The bending plate is connected to the sub-support surface to influence its height depending on the extent of bending imposed by the adjuster. The adjuster includes an electromotor on the concave side of the bending plate.
Wheelchair
A wheelchair is provided. The wheelchair includes supports for supporting a user. The supports are configured to reduce or prevent ischemia or pressure sores of the user. In another aspect, a system of supports for supporting a user is presented. A group of the supports is arranged along the perimeter of the shape. At least some of the group of the supports have different vertical positions. In another aspect, the supports are arranged as a repeating pattern of shapes, the individual supports being peripherally disposed along perimeters of the shapes. The repeating pattern of shapes includes a first shape overlapping with a second shape, and some of the individual supports are disposed along perimeters of both the first and second shapes.
Adjustable anatomical support and seat cushion apparatus for wheelchairs
An adjustable anatomical support and seat cushion apparatus for wheelchairs and the like, including a resilient, cellular thermoplastic honeycomb seat cushion member and a pivotally attached base member forming a planar base upon which the cushion member will rest when folded about the attaching pivot to engage and lay thereupon. Positioned upon and secured to the base member and disposed between it and the overlying cushion member, are user or therapist positionable, prescriptively sized and shaped pelvic obliquity elements, pommel elements and/or wedge elements operative to deform the cushion member when engaged with the bottom thereof. The assembly of components is contained within a suitable fabric cover envelope.
CUSHIONING DEVICES WITH INTERNAL SHEAR ABSORBING LAYER
Shear-reduction cushioning devices are provided for the prevention of shear related wounds. Cushioning devices include upper and lower cushioning layers that contact each other through at least one internal shear reduction layer provided between the cushioning layers and extending over a shear reduction region, such that dynamic relative translation of the two cushioning layers is permitted within the shear reduction region while absorbing friction and shear internally. The interface between the cushioning layers (where the shear reduction layer is provided) may be angled relative to an external surface of the cushioning device. The cushioning layers may be attached or attachable to one another beyond the shear reduction region, to limit an amount of relative translation of the cushioning layers and to re-center or reset the cushioning layers after use.
Lifting pad for wheelchair
A lifting pad to be used with a wheelchair in order to provide additional comfort to a user is disclosed herein. The lifting pad comprises a cover with a seat portion and a backrest portion. The lifting pad also comprises a first slot formed in the seat portion and a second slot formed in the backrest portion in order to receive inserts such as foam inserts which are to provide comfort to a user. The lifting pad further comprises at least one foam insert arranged inside each of the first slot and the second slot found on the cover. The lifting pad is adapted to be placed on a seat to provide support and comfort to a user seated thereon.
FOLDING ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIR
A folding electric wheelchair that provides the user an electronic driving system powered by two lithium-ion batteries that is sealed to be weatherproof, able to drive over different terrain types and slope grades on any given day whether it's raining or sunny, lightweight and portable for transportation, travel-friendly, compact in overall size when in the folded position to fit into a small space for storage. An ergonomically contoured seating that includes a bump dampening and terrain vibration system with the supporting frame pieces (34), (42), and (50) having an oval shape. The manner of how the embodiment operates to fold and unfold consists of eight specific hinge joint embodiments including: (30), (32), (38), (40), (46), (48), (58) and (64).
WHEELCHAIR WITH DYNAMIC SUPPORT SYSTEM
A wheelchair is provided. First supports for supporting a user of the wheelchair are unevenly disposed to form a perimeter, and second supports for supporting the user of the wheelchair are unevenly disposed at least partially within the perimeter of the first supports. The first supports support the user when the first supports are in a raised position and the second supports are in a lowered position. The second supports support the user when the second supports are in a raised position and the first supports are in a lowered position. A alternation of supporting the user with the first supports or the second supports facilitates reduction of pressure sores of the user. In various embodiments, multiple groups of supports are used, the supports contour to a user's anatomy and/or the supports are pneumatic.
