A location of a background area is determined and ranked for each member cluster based on the current point of interest. Electronic displays that correspond to the ranked background areas are identified and ranked. Content is distributed across the electronic displays for each current time period based on the ranked display areas.

A system and method are provided for a pedestrian thoroughfare portable media projection kiosk. The method provides a portable kiosk chassis located in a pedestrian thoroughfare. A media projection subsystem attached to the kiosk projects a media message and creates a media enablement signal. The media message may be a visual display, an audio broadcast, or both. The method verifies that media has been projected in response to receiving a media enablement signal. Verification information is supplied that includes the media enablement signal, and the verification information is communicated to a server. The verification information may be communicated using a cellular telephone, an IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) device, an IEEE 802.15 Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) device, or combinations thereof. Alternatively, or in addition, the kiosk may provide a publically accessible cellular telephone booster, a WLAN access point (AP), WPAN AP, or combinations thereof.

This may be accomplished by a media guidance application identifying activities a user has planned, as well as respective times for which each of the plurality of activities was planned to be performed by the user. The media guidance application may filter the activities by determining which of the first plurality of activities has a corresponding respective time that is within a threshold period of time. The media guidance application may then identify characteristics of each filtered activity and of a media asset that the user is consuming at the present moment, and may compute whether the characteristics match. If the characteristics match, the media guidance application may generate for display a recommendation relating to the respective activity.

System and method for mobile media distribution

A system and method are provided for location-targeting the provision of media distributed by a mobile platform. The method provides a mobile platform with an attached media projection subsystem, and an identifier associated with the media projection subsystem. The media projection subsystem is selectively enabled, the geographic location of the mobile platform is determined, and the identifier and the enablement of the media projection system are verified. Verification information, including the mobile platform (media projection subsystem) location, identifier, and enablement of the media projection subsystem is communicated to a server and stored in a non-transitory memory. A targeting application may direct the system to a target location in cooperation with analyzing the verification information, weighted for factors such as proximate vehicular traffic, line of sight, proximate pedestrian traffic, proximity to cultural events, proximity to cultural facilities, the time of day, and the length of time the media is being projected.

Additionally, the disclosed systems can display the co-user within the VR environment using the determined graphical representation type (e.g., from the perspective of the VR user).
