A method of displaying media content on a display screen of a communication device including a processor and a memory including program code, an application program, and a user application. The application program includes a plurality of activities associated with a plurality of display windows rendered by the display screen. The method includes receiving, at a monitoring process, status callbacks provided by an operating system of the device wherein the status callbacks relate to memory state. Values of at least one of the status callbacks are inspected wherein the at least one of the status callbacks includes a user interface (UI) state value. Based at least in part upon inspection of the UI state value, it is determined that a first activity is finishing. Media content is then displayed upon the display screen upon further determining that a predetermined condition associated with the communication device exists.

There are provided systems and methods for a communication device interface for merchant check-in and shopping notifications. A user may enter shopping preferences to a module of a communication device in order to receive notifications and alerts when items matching the shopping preferences are available with one or more merchants. A service provider may receive the shopping preferences with user attributes, such as a user location and/or account balance. The attributes may be determined using applications and/or modules of the communication device or through a check-in by the user at a location. The service provider may determine shopping notifications having purchase offers for the items from available merchants. The purchase offers may include offers to sell the items and discounts for the items. The shopping notifications may be displayed to the user using a user device interface, such as cells within an application or mobile device home screen.

A system and method are provided for collection and testing of a biologic sample in a self-diagnostic test. The system and method comprise collecting by a user of a testing device a biologic sample for use with the testing device, assigning correlative values as test results, and receiving the test results at a server disposed on a network. Some aspects include a mobile application operating on a mobile device with which the user interacts. These aspects allow advertisements and other messages to be presented to the user through the mobile application. Some aspects present different messages to the user based on the type of self-diagnostic test the user is conducting.

Systems and methods for automated generation and presentation of thematic content objects to consumers in a retail environment are provided. A portable device may include a transmitter or transceiver that emits, produces or otherwise transmits a signal that includes information and/or data representative of an identifier that uniquely identifies the portable device. Upon entering an establishment thematic content delivery circuitry detects the presence of the portable device and obtains the identifier included in the signal emitted by the portable device. Using the identifier, the thematic content delivery circuitry determines a theme logically associated with the identifier. The thematic content delivery circuitry generates thematic content output that is logically associated with the theme and communicates the thematic content output to an output device. The thematic content output may include display output, audio output, tactile output, hardcopy output, or combinations thereof.

A method including receiving a digital promotion payload from a brand manufacturer for at least one branded consumer packaged good, the digital promotion payload including a digital promotion value associated with the branded consumer packaged good, is provided. The method includes receiving a bid request to the digital promotion engine, providing a bid response to the bid request, the bid response including the digital promotion payload, and receiving, from the supply side platform, a confirmation that the bid response has been selected from one or more bids from different digital advertising entities. The method includes providing a command to the supply side platform to deliver the digital promotion payload to a mobile device accessing a resource from the mobile display publisher, and loading the digital promotion value to a frequent shopper identification in response to a consumer interaction with the digital promotion payload detected from the mobile device.

Techniques for identifying certain types of network activity are disclosed, including parsing network traffic to automatically recognize anonymous identifiers. Such techniques may be used to identify and eliminate malicious and/or undesirable network traffic, and to identify topics relevant to a user of a particular network device so that communications to such a user are more likely to relate to a topic of interest to the user.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a machine-readable storage medium that includes executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system, facilitate performance of operations which include modifying advertising content at a display responsive to a person being determined to be in a first zone relative to the display, determining a presence of a communication device of the person, wherein the second zone is closer in range to the display than the first zone, transmitting a query to the communication device, receiving from the communication device the identifying characteristic of the person, obtaining an image of the person responsive to the person being determined to be in a third zone relative to the display, wherein the third zone is closer in range to the display than the first zone and the second zone, and obtaining modified content for the person based on the identifying characteristic.

A mobile terminal includes a touch screen display, a camera, a power button and an activation button for turning on the touch screen display. The mobile terminal has a first function and a second function to perform in response to user input and provides user settings for configuring at least one of the first and second functions such that the at least one of the first and second functions is performed along with turning on the touch screen display when pressing of the activation button is detected while the touch screen display is turned off. A method for collaborative instantiation of remote session objects and interactive video-based modification thereof includes receiving a uniform resource locator (URL) via a first graphical user interface (GUI). A request is generated based on the URL, and is sent to a remote server. In response to the request, a data object including product data is returned, and the product data is modified, so as to generate normalized product data. A host server causes playback of a video within a second GUI that is associated with a mobile device of a user. A product selection is received at the host server during playback of the video and in response to a user interaction with the video. Normalized product data associated with the product selection is identified, and a message including the identified normalized product data is sent to the remote server to cause instantiation of a software shopping cart.
