When it is determined that the merchant device is in the offline mode, a recommendation that is previously received may be presented. In other examples, other types of recommendations may be presented.

This disclosure describes a system for presenting items to a user at a presentation area within a materials handling facility. In some instances, a predicted items list that identifies items that are likely to be picked by a user are determined and, when the user arrives at the materials handling facility, those predicted items are presented to the user for selection. For example, predicted items may be determined and inventory holders that contain the predicted items may be routed to a presentation area and positioned for presentation to the user. The user may browse the presented items and pick the items they desire.

The method includes transmitting a plurality of ads to a plurality of terminals, receiving from a terminal a consumer's telephone number/email address/social network handle, a unique ad identifier for a particular ad and a unique terminal identifier, generating and storing a record including the consumer's telephone number/email address/social network handle, the unique ad identifier and the unique terminal identifier, generating a message associated with the particular ad, transmitting to a text message gateway/email server/social network a request to send a message to the consumer's telephone number/email address/social network handle, receiving a request from the consumer's mobile device, accessing the record using the unique record identifier, generating a custom page based on the data from the record, and transmitting the custom page to the consumer's mobile device.

A system and method for wireless communication of proximity based marketing is provided. The method includes determining whether a proximity device and a mobile computing device are within a first proximity to each other, wherein the proximity device is associated with at least one of a product and a service, and communicating information indicating that the proximity device and the mobile computing device are within the first proximity to each other, when it is determined that the proximity device and the mobile computing device are within the first proximity to each other.
