ROUTE GUIDANCE APPARATUS AND ROUTE GUIDANCE METHOD

Provided is a route guidance apparatus and a route guidance method which are capable of appropriately performing route guidance on a road where a plurality of lanes exist on one side. The route guidance apparatus 12 or the route guidance method determines the timing of the automated or manual lane change based on the total required distance Dlcttl corresponding to the number of required lane changes Nlcn required for reaching the target lane 502tar from the current lane 502cur, and the remaining distance to the planned course change point Prc from the current position Pcur. When the timing of the lane change is reached, the timing of the automated lane change or the manual lane change is guided, or the automated lane change is performed.

VEHICULAR DRIVER MONITORING SYSTEM

A vehicular driver monitoring system includes an interior electrochromic rearview mirror assembly and a camera disposed at the interior electrochromic rearview mirror assembly behind and viewing through an electrochromic mirror reflective element into the interior cabin of the vehicle. Supplemental sources of near infrared illumination are integrated into the mirror assembly that, when powered to emit near infrared light, illuminate at least the driver-side front seating area within the interior cabin of the vehicle. Presence of the camera is not readily apparent to an occupant of the vehicle. The camera at least (a) views the driver-side front seating area of the equipped vehicle and (b) views a passenger-side front seating area of the equipped vehicle. The driver of the equipped vehicle is monitored via processing at the processor of image data captured by the camera.

Server for navigation, navigation system, and navigation method

Because in a server for navigation that causes a navigation device mounted in a moving object to provide guidance on a moving route and display map data on the basis of the map data and the position of the moving object, from a recognition result of a user's utterance and position information, evaluation information about a point or is acquired automatically, an evaluation about the point can be left automatically and safely without requiring the user's special operation. Further, by adding the evaluation information to map data and displaying this map data at the time of use, the navigation system enables the user to revisit a point through which the user desires to pass once again, bypass a point through which the user desires to never pass again, and so on without requiring the user's work of consciously memorizing the impression about each point and so on.

System and Method for Presenting Autonomy-Switching Directions

An on-board computing system for a vehicle is configured to generate and selectively present a set of autonomous-switching directions within a navigation user interface for the operator of the vehicle. The autonomous-switching directions can inform the operator regarding changes to the vehicle's mode of autonomous operation. The on-board computing system can generate the set of autonomy-switching directions based on the vehicle's route and other information associated with the route, such as autonomous operation permissions (AOPs) for route segments that comprise the route. The on-board computing device can selectively present the autonomy-switching directions based on locations associated with anticipated changes in autonomous operations determined for the route of the vehicle, the vehicle's location, and the vehicle's speed. In addition, the on-board computing device is further configured to present audio alerts associated with the autonomy-switching directions to the operator of the vehicle.

APPARATUS AND ASSOCIATED METHOD FOR PROVIDING U-TURN GUIDANCE

An apparatus comprising a processor and memory including computer program code, the memory and computer program code configured to, with the processor, enable the apparatus at least to: receive an indication of disruption to a planned route of travel for a road vehicle following the planned route; based on consideration of contextual data in respect of a location in proximity to the current vehicle location against one or more predefined manoeuvering criteria, dynamically identify a U-turn location on the planned route of travel at which it is possible for the vehicle to perform a U-turn onto a different route of travel; and provide an indication of the dynamically identified U-turn location for use in route navigation onto the different route of travel.

An interaction device include a processor. The processor being configured to acquire an alertness level of an occupant of a vehicle, request an utterance from the occupant in a case in which the acquired alertness level is below a threshold value, identify a rest point at which the vehicle can stop, measure a cycle spanning from initiation of an interaction until the alertness level falls below the threshold value again, and repeatedly request an utterance from the occupant at a regular interval that is shorter than the measured cycle during a time period from notifying the occupant that the rest point has been set as a destination of the vehicle to the vehicle arriving at the destination.

Navigation Directions Preview

To present a navigation directions preview, a server device receives a request for navigation directions from a starting location to a destination location and generates a set of navigation directions in response to the request. The set of navigation directions includes a set of route segments for traversing from the starting location to the destination location. The server device selects a subset of the route segments based on characteristics of each route segment in the set of route segments. For each selected route segment, the server device provides a preview of the route segment to be displayed on a client device. The preview of the route segment includes panoramic street level imagery depicting the route segment.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATING SIGNATURE AMBIENT SOUNDS AND MAPS THEREOF

Systems and methods are provided for generating signature ambient sounds and maps thereof to assist in navigation based on a start location, a destination location, start time and average walking speed. The maps are generated by concatenating two or more of the signature ambient sounds and two or more of voice based navigation guidance. The signature ambient sounds for up to all location coordinate pairs in a map, for up to all time ranges and for up to all walking speed ranges are generated and tagged to the corresponding location coordinate pair, the corresponding time range and the corresponding average walking speed. The signature ambient sounds are generated by applying digital signal processing techniques on ambient sounds recorded by client devices, that are filtered and outlier removed.
