METHOD OF NAVIGATING A VISUALLY IMPAIRED USER, A NAVIGATION SYSTEM FOR THE SAME, AND A GUIDING ROBOT

A method of navigating a visually impaired user, a navigation system and a guiding robot used in the system. The method includes the steps of: receiving a plurality of location referencing signals from a plurality of signal sources; processing the location referencing signals to determine a current location of the user in a predetermined area; planning an optimal path for the user to travel from the current location to a destination location; providing guiding information associated with the optimal path to the user; obtaining a travel instruction from the user to travel along the optimal path; and moving a guiding robot according to the travel instruction provided by the user along the optimal path until the next travel instruction is required to further move the guiding robot.

Navigation assistance for the visually impaired

A software application and system may be configured to enable a smartphone or other device to be used by a visually impaired person to receive voice navigation guidance during a directed exploration of an area. Directed exploration uses combinations of location data, directional data, and orientation data from the configured device to determine a direction that user wishes to explore, and only providing narrated results for streets, businesses, and other points of interest in that direction. The system may also utilize sets of wireless indicators positioned within indoor areas to provide accurate positioning to particular locations and floors within buildings.

Information processing apparatus, information processing system, and information processing method

The disclosure provides an information processing apparatus, an information processing system, and an information processing method capable of allowing a user to approach a destination intuitively. An information processing apparatus according to the present technology includes a position-coordinate acquisition part, a direction acquisition part, a direction calculation part, and a haptic-feedback determining part. The position-coordinate acquisition part acquires a position coordinate of the information processing apparatus. The direction acquisition part acquires an apparatus direction that the information processing apparatus faces. The direction calculation part calculates a target direction being a direction of a target with respect to the information processing apparatus from a position coordinate of the target and the position coordinate of the information processing apparatus. The haptic-feedback determining part determines a haptic feedback to be presented to a user on the basis of an angle formed by the apparatus direction and the target direction.

User interfaces for providing navigation directions

In some embodiments, an electronic device displays indications of safety characteristics of one or more navigational segments of a navigation route. In some embodiments, an electronic device displays navigation options. In some embodiments, an electronic device presents indications of navigation directions while navigation along a route.

Haptic information provision device

The present invention relates to a haptic information provision device. The haptic information provision device (100) according to the present invention comprises: a receiver (120) for receiving external notification information; a controller (130) for converting the notification information to a haptic signal; and an operation unit (110) for transferring haptic information to a user according to the haptic signal, wherein the operation unit (110) includes a plurality of operation units (110a-110j), the respective operation units (110a-110j) operating in response to different notification information and thus transferring different haptic information to the user.

Technologies for producing efficient investigation routes for identifying gas leak locations

Technologies for producing efficient investigation routes for identifying gas leak locations include a mobile compute device. The mobile compute device includes circuitry configured to obtain route data indicative of a route to be traveled along to identify a location of a gas leak. The circuitry is also configured to present the route data to a user to guide the user along the route.

A method for guiding a blind, an electronic device, a storage medium and a blind guide product, and related to the technical field of navigation are provided. The method includes: acquiring Beidou satellite data and base station differential data, and determining location information of a user by using a carrier phase differential technology; in response to a blind guide request, generating a blind guide route according to current location information and destination information input by the user; and broadcasting a voice prompt based on the blind guide route. The location accuracy of a user is improved, and blind guide requirements for a complex road section can be met, thereby improving the travel safety for the user.

SPATIAL GUIDANCE SYSTEM FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED INDIVIDUALS

Method, systems, and apparatus to facilitate navigation in a known environment. Communication and tracking between a receiver device and one or more beacons are provided to identify a current position of the receiver device. A direction to a next waypoint of a current path is determined based on the identified current position and a haptic feedback system is signaled to provide continuous haptic feedback to orient a user in the identified direction.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage devices for providing directions haptically such that sight and hearing can continue unimpeded. In one exemplary embodiment, a wearable device (such as earphones, ear rings, gloves, glasses, or other wearable objects) configured as disclosed herein receives directions to an intended destination for a user, the directions comprising a movement action and a distance to the movement action. The wearable device has multiple haptic output units and generates, through one of those units, a haptic output based on the directions. This allows the user to receive the directions through touch rather than looking at their mobile device or from audio.
