Using train telematics data to reduce accident risk
A computer system configured to use train telematics data may be mounted on or within an autonomous vehicle, and which may be configured to (1) receive train telematics data associated with a train that includes GPS location, speed, route, heading, acceleration, and/or track data; (2) determine, based upon the train telematics data, when, or a time period of when, the train will pass through, be passing through, and/or be within a predetermined distance of a railroad crossing; (3) determine an alternate route for the autonomous vehicle to take to avoid waiting at the railroad crossing; and (4) direct the autonomous vehicle to automatically travel along the alternate route or automatically stop at the railroad crossing to allow the train to pass unimpeded and to facilitate avoidance of train-vehicle collisions. Insurance discounts may be generated based upon the risk mitigation or prevention functionality.
Information processing apparatus, vehicle, information processing method, and computer program product
According to an embodiment, an information processing apparatus includes one or more processors configured to: acquire a dynamic state related to traveling of a moving object entering an intersection; acquire intersection information indicating a configuration of the intersection; specify a reference route along which the moving object is predicted to travel at the intersection, based on the dynamic state and the intersection information; detect a speed control point that is a position included in the specified reference route; and generate a speed model representing a temporal change in a predicted speed of the moving object so that the speed at the speed control point is locally minimized, based on the dynamic state and the intersection information.
Advanced warnings for drivers of vehicles for upcoming signs
Method and apparatus are disclosed for advanced warnings to drivers of vehicles for upcoming signs. An example vehicle includes a GPS receiver to determine a vehicle location. The example vehicle also includes a condition identifier to determine a familiarity level of a driver for the vehicle location and detect an upcoming sign. The example vehicle also includes a warning determiner to compare the familiarity level to a threshold level and provide, in response to the familiarity level being less than the threshold level, an advanced warning to the driver for the upcoming sign.
System and method for providing real-time and predictive speed, traffic signal timing, station dwell time, and departure window information to transit vehicle
Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for connecting traffic signal control infrastructure, in-service transit vehicles, and back-end computing and service systems, and providing an adaptable user interface, remotely effecting a change on a Portable Electronic Device (PED), verifying location of transit vehicles and tailoring information to the behavior of a transit operator. System determines an “optimal window” for a transit vehicle to travel through a maximum number of consecutive traffic signals during the green vehicular phase. The system determines and sends a recommended speed to traverse the optimal window. In a case where an optimal window is not possible under current circumstances, the system determines and then advises the driver to remain at the current station for a specified dwell time.
Method for generating road map for vehicle navigation and navigation device
A method for generating a road map for vehicle navigation comprises: providing original road image data having an image of a road; identifying boundary lines defining respective lane segments of the road from the original road image data; associating traffic properties with the lane segments defined by the boundary lines, respectively; grouping the lane segments to generate road segments; and combining the road segments with traffic control objects corresponding thereto so as to generate the road map for vehicle navigation.
VIRTUAL-SPACE-IMAGE PROVIDING DEVICE AND PROGRAM FOR PROVIDING VIRTUAL SPACE IMAGE
The invention is provided with: a turning determination unit 13 and an image reproducing unit 14. The turning determination unit 13 determines a section in which an automobile travels with turning, not travels straight, based on road-route information regarding a traveling route and a road on the traveling route. The image reproducing unit 14 displays a selected-virtual space image that is selected in advance in a straight section in which the automobile travels straight, and displays a turning-virtual space image for a view field turning in accordance with a turning pattern determined by a road shape and a traveling direction in a turning section, in the turning section in which the automobile travels with turning. When the automobile turns, a contradiction that occurs between information obtained by the brain through an experience of a user and information obtained by the brain through that the user views the turning-virtual space image displayed on an HMD 200 is reduced, and thus an occurrence that the autonomic nerves cause an abnormal phenomenon is suppressed.
Lane and smart guidance between navigation maneuvers
In some implementations, a navigation service can provide a plurality of navigation instructions for a user to traverse a route to an intended destination. The navigation service can also identify at least one portion of the determined route that requires additional guidance based on one or more factors. For each portion of the route that requires additional guidance, the navigation service may generate one or more additional guidance instructions to be inserted within the plurality of navigation instructions, forming an enhanced set of instructions for traversing the route.
First-person perspective view
The disclosure provides a method for communicating a meeting point to a provider traveling along a route to meet a user at a destination. Near the destination specified for the route, the user may specify a meeting point, a point at which the user will be waiting for the provider. The meeting point may be different or the same as the destination. The meeting point is then communicated to the provider to help the provider find the user, upon approach to the destination.
Cancel point management system, cancel point notification system, cancel point guide system, and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium
This invention provides technology that can provide a driver with an opportunity to decide whether or not to continue automatic drive control. A cancel point management system includes a cancel point collector that collects first notification information, indicating a manual cancel point which is a point where automatic drive control has been cancelled in response to operation by a driver in a notification vehicle, from the notification vehicle and a guide information distributer that distributes first guide information for showing the manual cancel point to a guide vehicle traveling on a road.
ROUTE GUIDING APPARATUS
A control device has a plurality of speakers and includes an audio output portion mounted on a vehicle, a route searching portion that searches for a guidance route to a destination, and a sound image localization processing portion that controls the audio output portion based on the guidance route searched by the route searching portion and that displaces a position to localize a sound image of predetermined notification sound output from each of the speakers discretely corresponding to the guidance route.
