Handheld diagnostic test device and method for use with an electronic device and a test cartridge in a rapid diagnostic test
A handheld diagnostic test device includes a port to removably receive a test cartridge, an element connected with an electronic device, and sensors for detection of test data from a biological or environment sample after reaction with reagents onboard the cartridge. The test device also includes memory storing algorithms for upload to the electronic device to enable a processor thereof: to await elapse of a pre-determined time following reaction of the sample with the reagents; to thereafter instruct the sensors to detect the test data; to generate presentation data based on the test data; and to present the presentation data from a presentation element of the electronic device to a user. A related method includes a connecting step, an uploading step, a presentation step, a cartridge inserting step, a waiting step, a sensing step, and an electronic device processing step.
Analyte sensor with lag compensation
In particular embodiments, methods, devices and systems including calibrating analyte data associated with a monitored analyte level received from an analyte sensor based on a reference measurement, determining a lag time constant associated with the calibrated analyte data, and performing lag correction of the calibrated analyte data based on the determined time lag constant are disclosed.
BIOSECURITY SCREENING SYSTEM AND METHOD
The present invention provides systems and methods for rapid screening of individuals who may have been exposed to and carrying biological agents potentially contagious or otherwise harmful to the general public.
Displays for a medical device
Embodiments described herein relate to an analyte monitoring device having a user interface with a display and a plurality of actuators. The display is configured to render a plurality of display screens, including a home screen and an alert screen. The home screen is divided into a plurality of simultaneously displayed panels, with a first panel displays a rate of change of continuously monitored analyte levels in interstitial fluid, a second panel simultaneously displays a current analyte level and an analyte trend indicator, and a third panel displays status information of a plurality of components of the device. When an alarm condition is detected, the display renders the alert screen in place of the home screen, the alert screen displaying information corresponding to the detected alarm condition. Furthermore, the actuators are configured to affect further output of the analyte monitoring device corresponding to the detected condition.
Handheld blood glucose monitoring device with messaging capability
A patient monitoring network pertaining to blood glucose and other analyte measurements includes wireless blood glucose or other analyte measuring devices and a networked computer or server. Each monitoring device is associated with a patient and is configured to measure the glucose level or other analyte from a given blood sample via inserted test strips, transmit the measurements to the networked computer, and display received messages. The blood glucose monitoring device includes means for substantially reducing factors that could affect the glucose measurement such as thermal and RF interference.
RECONFIGURABLE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM
A system for measuring health data includes a measurement device. The measurement device includes at least one measurement interface to receive a first fluid sample, a processor to measure one or more first characteristics of the first fluid sample, and at least one memory device to store first data. The processor reads the first data and measures the one or more first characteristics of the first fluid sample according to the first data. The at least one memory device also stores second data. The processor reads the second data instead of the first data to reconfigure the measurement device and measures one or more second characteristics of a second fluid sample according to the second data. An external processing device may be communicatively coupled to the measurement device and may execute a healthcare application that communicates with the measurement device and may be employed to reconfigure the measurement device.
Wireless transmitter adapters for battery-operated biosensor meters and methods of providing same
A wireless transmitter adapter (206) can provide wireless data transmission capability to a battery-operated biosensor meter (100), such as a blood glucose meter, originally configured for hardwired data downloads. In some embodiments, the wireless transmitter adapter (206) can be configured to replace a bio-sensor meter's battery cover (106). The wireless transmitter adapter (206) can include wireless transmitter circuitry (700), a connector (218) configured to be received in a biosensor meter's communications port (112) to electrically couple to the meter's processor circuitry (107), and one or more electrical contacts (625a, 625b) configured to electrically couple to the biosensor meter's one or more batteries (102a, 102b) to power the wireless transmitter circuitry (700). In other embodiments, the wireless transmitter adapter (206) can be configured to surround at least a portion of a biosensor meter (100) and to include its own battery compartment (804) to separately provide power to the wireless transmitter circuitry (700). Methods of providing a wireless transmitter adapter (206) for battery-operated biosensor meters (100) are also provided, as are numerous other aspects.
BIOCHEMICAL DETECTION APPARATUS
A biochemical detection apparatus includes an electronic computing device and an optical device. The optical device includes a main body. The main body includes an accommodating space provided in the main body, and an insertion slot, an optical lens and an opening that are in communication with the accommodating space. The optical lens and the opening are disposed on a same plane of the main body, and the optical lens is located above an image capturing unit of the electronic computing device. The optical device may be installed at a handheld electronic computing device commonly carried by an individual, and is capable of immediately performing detection for an environmental parameter or a biological parameter by a biochemical sheet. The optical device having a simple structure is small in volume, convenient and low in cost, and may replace expensive precision detection apparatuses.
Portable analytical device
A portable analytical device includes a housing, a measuring facility and a processor in the housing, and an electrical connector coupled to the housing and having one end electrically connected to the processor and an opposite end extending outwardly from the housing. The measuring facility is configured to analyze an optical or electrochemical change in the test element having received a liquid sample of the body fluid and to generate measuring values resulting from the analysis. A memory has stored therein software at least a portion of which is executable by the processor to process the measuring values to produce analytical measuring data taking into account calibration values. The electrical connector may be a male universal serial bus (USB) electrical connector, a Type-A USB electrical connector or a mini-USB electrical connector having electrical connections for electrical power, ground, data and ID.
