Navigation system for a motor vehicle

A navigation system for a motor vehicle includes: an off-board navigation system spatially separated from the motor vehicle, for calculating a suggested route for the motor vehicle; a wireless communication connection between the off-board navigation system and the motor vehicle, for transmitting the suggested route to the motor vehicle; and a man-machine interface arranged in the motor vehicle, for outputting the suggested route to an operator of the motor vehicle.

Map image display device, navigation device, and map image display method

In a case where a specific point is designated on a map, extracted structure data, which is data of structures contained in an extraction range defined in advance with respect to the specific point as a datum, is extracted from map data. In a case where multiple extracted structure data items are extracted, at least one structure, the evaluated value of which is different from evaluated values of other structures by a selection threshold value or greater for a selection index, is selected as a landmark structure. A three-dimensional map image containing at least a road image and a structure image is displayed on a display screen in an emphasized manner such that the selected landmark structure offers visibility higher than visibility non-emphasized structures.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL REPRESENTATIONS OF ROUTES

Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media configured to provide three-dimensional representations of routes. Locations for a planned movement may be obtained. The location information may include tridimensional information of a location. Route information for the planned movement may be obtained. The route information may define a route of one or more entities within the location. A three-dimensional view of the route within the location may be determined based on the location information and the route information. An interface through which the three-dimensional view of the route within the location is accessible may be provided.

Context Driven Navigation Presentation

Some embodiments of the invention provide several novel methods for generating a navigation presentation that displays a device navigating a route on a map. The method of some embodiments uses a virtual camera that, based on detected changes in the navigation context, dynamically modifies the way it captures portions of the map to produce different navigation scenes in the navigation presentation. To generate the navigation scenes, the method of some embodiments (1) identifies different sets of attributes that describe the different navigation contexts at different times during the navigation presentation, and (2) uses these different sets of attributes to identify different styles for operating the virtual camera. In some embodiments, the method uses an identified style to specify the virtual camera's positional attributes, which, in turn, define the portions of the map that the virtual camera identifies for rendering to produce several navigation scenes for a period of time (e.g., until the navigation context changes, or until the navigation presentation ends when the navigation context does not change again). During the navigation presentation, each time the navigation context changes, the identified set of attributes may change. This change, in turn, may cause the method of some embodiments to select a new style for operating the virtual camera. When the style for operating the virtual camera changes, the method of some embodiments modifies the way the virtual camera captures the portion of the map to render.

Venues map application and system providing a venue directory

In some implementations, a computing device can provide a map application providing a representation of a physical structure of venues (e.g., shopping centers, airports) identified by the application. In addition, the application can provide a unique venue directory, providing an easy and visual mechanism to search for categories of points of interest (e.g., clothes, food, restrooms) or specific items within the venue. Search results can be presented on a map of a floor within the venue as well as a listing providing all search results located within the venue.

DISPLAY SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CREATING AN APPARENT THREE-DIMENSIONAL IMAGE OF AN OBJECT

A method of creating an apparent three-dimensional image of an object includes determining a first position of a user, creating a first two-dimensional image of the object, determining a second position of the user that is different from the first position, creating a second two-dimensional image of the object that is different from the first two-dimensional image, presenting the first two-dimensional image to the user only when the user is disposed in the first position, and presenting the second two-dimensional image to the user only when the user is disposed in the second position to thereby create the apparent three-dimensional image. A display system is also disclosed.

VISUAL INTERFACE DISPLAY METHOD AND APPARATUS, ELECTRONIC DEVICE, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Provided are a visual interface display method and apparatus, an electronic device, and a storage medium. The display method includes determining that a target vehicle executes a driving task (S101); displaying a map within a preset range according to the real-time position of the target vehicle (S102); displaying a first object model for a first object detected by the target vehicle on the map; and displaying a second object model including at least point cloud data for a detected non-first object (S103).

Explicit Signage Visibility Cues in Driving Navigation

To provide navigation instructions with indications of visibility of visual aids during navigation, a computing device receives a request from a user for navigation directions from a starting location to a destination location, and obtains a set of navigation directions for traversing from the starting location to the destination location along a route in response to the request. For at least one maneuver, the computing device identifies a visual aid for assisting the user in identifying a location corresponding to the maneuver, determines an amount of visibility for the visual aid, and adjusts a navigation instruction in the set of navigation directions corresponding to the maneuver to include a description of the amount of visibility for the visual aid. The computing device provides the set of navigation directions including the adjusted navigation instruction for presentation to the user.

Methods and systems for response vehicle deployment

Computer implemented methods and systems for deploying response vehicles based on a virtual environment. A server may obtain a virtual model of an overall region wherein the virtual model was generated based upon a plurality of images captured by a remote imaging vehicle. The server may then provide the virtual model to a user electronic device for rendering in a virtual environment. The server may then determine a target location within the overall region at which the response vehicle should be deployed and generate a route for the response vehicle to follow. The route may be based on damage indicated by the virtual model of the overall region. The server may then provide the route to the user electronic device and/or the response vehicle.

Interactive 3D navigation system

An interactive vehicle navigation system for previewing turns for a user using animations that show realistic, three-dimensional views of the locale of turns. The previews show a user how the locale of the turns will appear as the instructions are followed. A vantage of the preview is adjusted to promote clear views of the locale. User controls enable a driver to view previews at times that are safe and convenient for the driver and are located in positions that promote driver convenience and safety.
