NOVEL ASSAY AND NOVEL METHODS OF TREATING HUTCHINSON-GILFORD PROGERIA SYNDROME

Provided herein is a newly developed immunoassay that can detect progerin with high sensitivity, but which does not detect wildtype lamin A. Applications of the newly developed immunoassay in novel methods for diagnosing, prognosing, and treating progeria are also described.

Detection of antigens

The invention discloses a method for detecting at least one antigen, comprising the following steps: providing magnetic beads, which are coated with antibodies specific for at least one antigen to be detected; bringing the magnetic beads in contact with a washing buffer that comprises at least 8% BSA and incubating the mixture with a sample; isolating the magnetic beads by means of magnetic separator; and detecting the antigens bound to the magnetic beads by the antibodies. Washing buffers, primers, kits and devices that can be used for said methods are also disclosed.

Quantitative analysis of proteins

Methods and kits for detecting and/or quantitating target proteins in biological samples. In particular, the method comprises capture and immobilization of the target protein, protein denaturation, proteolytic digestion, and analysis using a mass spectrometry-based technique.

A method for detecting target analyte using hydrogel and biosensing device using the method are presented. In the method, first and second polymer hydrogels having first and second patterns respectively are prepared. The first polymer hydrogel has a target analyte-specific probe coupled thereto and has target analyte sensitivity. A target analyte is contacted with the first polymer hydrogel to induce a volume change of the hydrogel. A change in a moir pattern generated by overlapping the first and second polymer hydrogels with each other is obtained from an image monitoring device.
