ASSAYS FOR ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
The disclosure provides methods, compositions, and kits for enhanced detection of microbes in samples and monitoring of antimicrobial activity in a subject.
Bacteria-specific labeled substrtates as imaging biomarkers to diagnose, locate, and monitor infections
The methods of the present invention exploit unique biochemical pathways present within infectious organisms to develop small molecule metabolic tracers. Labeled substrates created using these inventive methods were created. The labeled substrates can be used to determine whether a subject is infected with an infectious organism by imaging means, and with use of two or more such labeled substrates, methods of differentiating gram negative infection from gram positive infection, and methods of localizing and quantifying infectious disease burden are provided. The methods of the present invention can assist in the clinical decision to begin empiric antibiotic therapy, determine its efficacy, as well as the choice of antibacterial agents.
ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOUNDS AND COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING SAME
The present invention is directed to antibacterial compositions and methods of use thereof, such as in the treatment of infectious diseases. Additionally, provided herein a method of screening molecules for identifying potential biologically active compounds.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION OF METHICILLIN-RESISTANT STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS
Disclosed is a method for identifying methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus through detection a mass signal at m/z of 6580-6600 in the MALDI-TOF mass spectrum. Also disclosed is a novel peptide biomarker, which consists of SEQ NO ID:5 and the use thereof for detection and/or identification of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
COMPOSITION FOR DIAGNOSING SUSCEPTIBILITY OF STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS TO ANTIBIOTICS, AND USE THEREOF
The present invention relates to a composition for diagnosing the susceptibility of Staphylococcus aureus to antibiotics, and a use thereof. Particularly, it has been ascertained that sosA is a marker specific to Staphylococcus aureus, and that the expression level of sosA is exhibited similarly to antibiotic susceptibility/resistance properties so as to be usable as a means for diagnosing the susceptibility/resistance of Staphylococcus aureus to antibiotics, and the present invention diagnoses the susceptibility/resistance of Staphylococcus aureus present in samples to antibiotics by using antibodies specifically binding to protein SosA, and thus provides, as a means for diagnosing the susceptibility of Staphylococcus aureus to antibiotics, a composition containing an agent for measuring the mRNA expression level of the sosA gene or an agent for measuring the expression level of the SosA protein.
BACTERIAL VACCINE COMPONENTS AND USES THEREOF
Agents, compositions, methods and kits useful for the treatment and diagnosis of Staphylococcal intramammary infection are disclosed. The agents, compositions, methods and kits are derived from genes expressed during Staphylococcal intramammary infection, and more particularly genes SACOL0442, based on the gene nomenclature from the Staphylococcus aureus COL (SACOL) genome.
CAPTURE COMPOSITIONS
Disclosed is a covalently-linked multilayered three-dimensional matrix comprising capture molecules, linkers and spacers (referred to as a Molecular Net) for specific and sensitive analyte capture from a sample. Also disclosed herein is a Molecular Net comprising covalently-linked multilayered three-dimensional matrix comprising more than one type of capture molecule and more than one type of linker and may comprise one or more spacer for specific and sensitive capture of more than one type of analyte from a sample. A Molecular Net may comprise a pseudorandom nature. Use of various capture molecules, linkers and spacers in a Molecular Net may confer unique binding properties to a Molecular Net. Porosity, binding affinity, size exclusion abilities, filtration abilities, concentration abilities and signal amplification abilities of a Molecular Net may be varied and depend on the nature of components used in its fabrication. Uses of a Molecular Net may include analyte capture, analyte enrichment, analyte purification, analyte detection, analyte measurement and analyte delivery. Molecular Nets may be used in liquid phase or on solid phases such as nanomaterials, modified metal surfaces, nanospheres, microspheres, microtiter plates, slides, pipettes, cassettes, cartridges, discs, probes, lateral flow devices, microfluidics devices, microfluidics devices, optical fibers and others.
ANTIBODY SPECIFIC TO ALPHA-TOXIN OF STAPHYLOCOCCAL AUREUS AND USES THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to an antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically bind to α-toxin of Staphylococcal aureus. The present disclosure also relates to a pharmaceutical composition, a method for treating and/or preventing diseases and/or disorders caused by Staphylococcal aureus infection in a subject in need, and a method for detecting α-toxin of Staphylococcal aureus in a sample.
CRP CAPTURE/DETECTION OF GRAM POSITIVE BACTERIA
Described herein are engineered microbe-targeting molecules, microbe-targeting articles, kits comprising the same, and uses thereof. Such microbe-targeting molecules, microbe-targeting articles, or the kits comprising the same can bind or capture of a microbe or microbial matter thereof, and can thus be used in various applications, such as diagnosis or treatment of an infection caused by microbes in a subject or any environmental surface.
BACTERIOTHERAPY AGAINST PROPRIONIBACTERIUM ACNES FOR THE TREATMENT OF ACNE
The disclosure relates to composition and methods to treat dermatological diseases and disorders and to composition useful for treating acne.
