System and method for non-volatile memory-based optimized, versioned, log-structured metadata storage with efficient data retrieval

A system and method for efficiently storing and accessing large volumes of metadata persistent on Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) storage systems is provided. The system applies log-structured, Copy-on-Write (CoW) B.sup.+ tree methods, and supports a core-affine data and resource partitioning approaches on the system's architecture and platform with a high-degree of parallelism within the CPU, NVMe storage, and networking devices. The subject system and method efficiently indexes both in-core (DRAM resident) and out-of-core (NVM resident) metadata, supports a variety of data access patterns, supports CoW features and provides verifiable data safety and integrity capabilities. The present system minimizes latencies over all aspects of the metadata management and access path by leveraging core-affine resource partitioning with runtime environment providing lightweight user-level threads with low-latency context switching that execute within the exclusive context of a dedicated CPU core, and partitioned resources.

STORAGE MEDIUM MANAGEMENT METHOD AND APPARATUS, DEVICE, AND COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM

In a storage medium management method, a controller receives an address space request that requests the provision of an address space in a target storage medium for an operating system, the target storage medium having two different types of storage media. The Controller determines a first address space in the target storage medium based on the address space request, and a physical address of the first address space to a target virtual address, which is managed by the operating system. The controller then provides to an operating system a first address space requested by the address space request, such that the first address space is directly managed by an operating system, without manual configuration or restart of an electronic device.

MEMORY SYSTEM

A memory system includes a non-volatile memory and a memory controller. The non-volatile memory includes a memory cell array having pages. The memory system is configured to execute a first operation method and a second operation method. The memory system includes a control information storage unit in which a first value is set for pages having a write operation speed that is slower than a first speed, and a second value is set for pages having a write operation speed that is equal to or higher than the first speed. The memory system is configured to, at the time of write operation, select the first operation method for a target page having the first value and perform the write operation using the first operation method, and select the second operation method for a target page having the second value and perform the write operation using the second operation method.

Isolation component

Systems, apparatuses, and methods related to an isolation circuit in a memory module are described. A dual-in line memory module (DIMM), for example, may include an isolation circuit to isolate components from one another in certain operating modes or phases of module operation. The isolation circuit may, for instance, isolate one integrated circuit (e.g., an electrically erasable read-only memory (EEPROM)) that includes serial presence detect (SPD) information from a controller (e.g., a field programmable gate array (FPGA)) if the controller is not energized. The isolation circuit may be employed in a non-volatile DIMM (NVDIMM), and an integrated circuit of the NVDIMM (e.g., an SPD EEPROM) may be isolated from an FPGA of the NVDIMM while the NVDIMM is de-energized. The isolation circuit may be employed in other examples to isolate or couple, or both, different components from or to one another.

A method includes generating a plurality of parity blocks from a plurality of lines of data blocks. The plurality of lines of data blocks are stored in data sections of memory of a cluster of computing devices of the computing system by distributing storage of individual data blocks of the plurality of lines of data blocks among unique data sections of the cluster of computing devices. The plurality of parity blocks are stored in parity sections of memory of the cluster of computing devices by distributing storage of parity blocks of the plurality of parity blocks among unique parity sections of the cluster of computing devices.

Write operations to mitigate write disturb

A first write operation is performed to write a first portion of a set of host data to a first location of a memory device. It is determined whether a first elapsed time since the first operation is performed does not satisfy a time condition. Responsive to determining that the first elapsed time does not satisfy the time condition, a second write operation is performed to write a second portion of the set of host data to a second location of the memory device not adjacent to the first location.

APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR PERFORMING LOGICAL OPERATIONS USING SENSING CIRCUITRY

An example apparatus comprises an array of memory cells and sensing circuitry comprising a primary latch coupled to a sense line of the array. The sensing circuitry can be configured to perform a first operation phase of a logical operation by sensing a memory cell coupled to the sense line, perform a number of intermediate operation phases of the logical operation by sensing a respective number of different memory cells coupled to the sense line, and accumulate a result of the first operation phase and the number of intermediate operation phases in a secondary latch coupled to the primary latch without performing a sense line address access.

MEMORY SYSTEM FOR BINDING DATA TO A MEMORY NAMESPACE

A computer system includes physical memory devices of different types that store randomly-accessible data in a main memory of the computer system. In one approach, an operating system allocates memory from a namespace for use by an application. The namespace is a logical reference to physical memory devices in which physical addresses are defined. The namespace is bound to a memory type. In response to binding the namespace to the memory type, the operating system adjusts a page table to map a logical memory address in the namespace to a memory device of the memory type.
