An active noise cancellation system (1) for cancelling environment noise perceived by a driver or passenger seated in a seat (3) mounted in a cabin of a vehicle, in combination with said seat, the seat comprising a seat cushion (19), a seat back (21) coupled to the seat cushion at a bottom end and extending upwards to a seat shoulder (23), and a headrest (22) coupled to the seat back, extending upwardly from the seat shoulder, the active noise cancellation system comprising an active noise cancellation circuit (ANC) (30), a plurality of microphones (10) mounted in the headrest and connected electrically to the ANC, and a plurality of speakers (16) mounted in the seat and connected electrically to the ANC circuit. The plurality of microphones comprises at least one first microphone mounted on a right side of the headrest and at least one second microphone mounted on a left side of the headrest, and the plurality of speakers comprises at least one first speaker mounted in the seat shoulder on a left side and at least one second speaker mounted in the seat shoulder on a right side, the right speaker configured to generate a noise cancellation sound from a noise signal picked up by the right microphone processed by the ANC circuit and the left speaker configured to generate a noise cancellation sound from a noise signal picked up by the left microphone processed by the ANC circuit.

SELECTIVE AMPLIFICATION OF AN ACOUSTIC SIGNAL

The present subject matter relates to systems and methods for selectively amplifying an acoustic signal in a closed environment. In an implementation, a plurality of acoustic signals may be received from within the closed environment. Frequency ranges corresponding to each acoustic signal may be obtained and compared to determine presence of at least one individual in the closed environment. Acoustic signals pertaining to the at least one individual may be analysed to detect occurrence of a physiological event. Based on the analysis, the acoustic signal may be recognized as a target signal, and the target signal may be amplified in the closed environment. Further, an interfering signal may be generated to cancel other acoustic signals within the closed environment.

A helmet including an active noise cancellation (ANC) system which includes a first reference microphone for measuring sound pressure at a first location on a first side of the helmet, the first location between a defined spatial region and a first source of sound and a second reference microphone for measuring sound pressure at a second location, different to the first location, on the first side. The second location is between the defined spatial region and a second source of sound. A loud speaker is provided in or adjacent to the defined spatial region. A control unit determines, based on output signals from the first and second microphones, a drive signal for driving the loudspeaker to generate a sound signal that at least partially attenuates, in the defined spatial region and in the first frequency range, the sound signals from the first and second noise sources.

A system and method for adaptive active noise reduction measure the acoustic response for each user to adaptively adjust and customize the ANR operation using adaptive filters to correct for any differences between the measured response and a targeted response. The system and method of various embodiments incorporate a closed loop control system with a feedforward input. The acoustic measurement and adaptation procedure is performed to adapt or tune at least one of the closed loop and feedforward control loops to provide adaptive ANR customized for each user and current ambient environment.

The disclosure provides an audio processing device comprising a first filter and a second filter. The first filter is configured to generate a first filtered signal based on an error signal, the error signal representative of audible sound at a target space. The second filter is configured to generate a second filtered signal based on the error signal. An anti-noise signal is generated based on the first filtered signal and the second filtered signal, and the anti-noise signal is included in the error signal. The first filter is connected to the second filter in parallel.

Bandlimiting anti-noise in personal audio devices having adaptive noise cancellation (ANC)

A personal audio device, such as a wireless telephone, includes noise canceling that adaptively generates an anti-noise signal from a reference microphone signal and injects the anti-noise signal into the speaker or other transducer output to cause cancellation of ambient audio sounds. An error microphone is provided proximate the speaker to measure the output of the transducer in order to control the adaptation of the anti-noise signal and to estimate an electro-acoustical path from the noise canceling circuit through the transducer. The anti-noise signal is adaptively generated to minimize the ambient audio sounds at the error microphone. A processing circuit that performs the adaptive noise canceling (ANC) function also filters one or both of the reference and/or error microphone signals, to bias the adaptation of the adaptive filter in one or more frequency regions to alter a degree of the minimization of the ambient audio sounds at the error microphone.

High-frequency broadband airborne noise active noise cancellation

Noise signals are captured from one or more physical error microphones located at first locations within the vehicle. High-frequency noise signals are captured from a feedforward system sensor. A virtual microphone algorithm is utilized to estimate noise signals at a virtual location based on the noise signals, the estimation utilizing a transfer function that estimates a signal that would have been received by the one or more physical error microphones at the virtual location. The virtual microphone algorithm is utilized to estimate noise signals at the virtual location based on the high-frequency noise signal. A noise-cancelling signal is provided to cancel noise at the virtual location, the noise-cancelling signal accounting for the noise captured by both the feedforward system sensor and the one or more physical error microphones, the ANC system utilizing a working frequency for the ANC of at least 2 kHz.

A control circuit for an electrostatic transducer including: an audio signal input, a detector configured to detect a current or charge signal from the electrostatic transducer. The detector is configured to produce an audio output signal varying at audio frequencies. A transform circuit is configured to transform the audio output signal to produce a feedback signal. A comparator is configured to compare an input audio signal at the audio signal input to the feedback signal to produce an error signal. A controller is configured to input a control signal to the electrostatic transducer, the control signal responsive to the error signal. The control signal is configured to control acoustic transparency of the electrostatic transducer, from outside space through through-holes of the first electrode, across the membrane and through through-holes of the second electrode.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR REDUCING A PRESSURE WAVE

Methods and systems for reducing a pressure wave are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a motor vehicle comprises a cabin and a receiver positioned to detect an input pressure wave within the cabin and produce an input signal. A fan with a blade having a variable pitch is positioned within the vehicle where the fan is audible within the cabin. A processor is in communication with the receiver and the fan, where the processor is configured to receive the input signal and determine an input frequency and an input phase. The processor is further configured to instruct the fan to control a pitch of the blade to produce a cancellation pressure wave with a cancellation frequency that is about the same as the input frequency and a cancellation phase that is about 180° out of phase with the input phase.
