An electrical short-circuiting closing switch including an electrically insulating housing; a first electrode having a tapered first electrode opening; a second electrode having a tapered second electrode opening; a movable contact having a tapered profile, the movable contact being movable relative to the housing along a closing axis from an open position, in which the movable contact is electrically disconnected from the second electrode, to a closed position, in which the movable contact electrically connects the first electrode and the second electrode by engaging the tapered profile with the first electrode opening and the second electrode opening; and an actuator arranged to force the movable contact from the open position to the closed position; wherein at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode is flexibly attached to the housing. A switchgear including a closing switch is also provided.

An alternatively changeable electric circuit comprising a voltage source, an electric load electrically connected with said electric voltage source via a basic electric conductor having a primary branch and a secondary branch, and an alternative conductor connected in parallel to said basic electric conductor, wherein upon fulfillment of a predetermined circumstance, said primary branch is physically interrupted, causing an electric current which initially flowed through said primary branch to be redirected through said alternative conductor. The alternative conductor comprises two electric conductive sections which are aligned with each other and spaced apart at a distance, forming an electrically insulating gap there-between. The primary branch includes an electrically conductive section, which upon the predetermined circumstance is removable from the primary branch and displaceable into said gap between said two electric conductive sections, causing the alternative conductor to become bridged and electrically conductive.

The invention relates to a short-circuiting device for use in low-voltage and medium-voltage systems for the protection of property and persons, comprising: a switching element, which can be operated by the tripping signal of a fault detection device; two mutually opposite contact electrodes having power supply means, which contact electrodes can be brought into contact with an electrical circuit having connection points at different potential; furthermore, in at least one of the contact electrodes, a movable contact part, which is under mechanical preload and executes a movement to the further contact electrode with the assistance of spring force in the event of a short circuit; and a sacrificial element as a spacer between the contact electrodes, with an electrical connection between the sacrificial element and the switching element on the one hand and one of the contact electrodes on the other hand, in order to deliberately cause current-flow-induced thermal deformation or destruction of the sacrificial element. According to the invention, the movable contact part is in the form of a hollow cylinder which is closed on one side, and a spring for generating preload is inserted in the hollow cylinder. The hollow cylinder is movably guided in a complementary cutout in the first contact electrode, a sliding contact thus being formed. In the region of the base of the closed hollow cylinder, the cylinder wall of said hollow cylinder transitions into a cone at the outer circumference. Furthermore, a first pin-like extension, opposite to which a second pin-like extension insulated from the contact electrodes is situated, extends within the hollow cylinder, proceeding from the base. The sacrificial element, in the form of a bolt or screw, is arranged between the first and the second pin-like extension. A cutout, which has an internal cone and is matched to the external cone of the movable contact, is provided in the second contact electrode. The external cone and the internal cone form a bounce-free short-circuit contact region having frictional locking and interlocking connection on account of plastic deformation which occurs. Furthermore, according to the invention the switching element is designed as an auxiliary short-circuiter on the basis of an electric match.

Direct current electric circuit interrupting switch assembly with an actuator

A direct current interrupting switch assembly comprising a primary conductor and secondary conductor integrated with a voltage source and load. The primary conductor has two parallel branches, the first branch including a fuse with a melting member and the second branch including a pyroswitch with an interrupting member. In a first position, the second branch of the primary conductor is uninterrupted, and the interrupting member is a sufficient distance apart from the secondary conductor. When the interrupting member is moved to a second position, the current in second branch of the primary conductor is interrupted an the interrupting member contacts the secondary conductor of the switch assembly. The switch assembly also has a parallel circuit with a thermal fuse with a contact member, and an electromagnetic switch; which activates when a pre-determined value of electric current is exceeded.

The actuator can also include a casing including a base portion being fixed to the actuator body near the ignition device, and being disposed in a space inside the actuator body covering the ignition device. The casing can define a second space between the casing and the partition wall member of the ignition device, and seal, inside the second space, a combustion product generated by combustion of the gunpowder by the ignition device. When pressure inside the second space arises due to combustion of the gunpowder, a portion of the casing can stretch to approach a predetermined end portion of the output piston portion.
