System and method to detect low speed in a gas turbine generator

A control system for a power generation system includes a generator coupled to a turbine via a shaft. The control system includes a memory storing instructions. The control system also includes a processor coupled to the memory and configured to execute the instructions. When the instructions are executed it causes the processor to receive a direct current (DC)-link voltage from an automatic voltage regulator (AVR), wherein the AVR is configured to control voltage characteristics of the generator, and to determine a speed of the generator based on the DC-link voltage.

Direct-current power supply apparatus, motor drive control apparatus, blower, compressor, and air conditioner

A direct-current power supply apparatus includes: a reactor having one end connected to an alternating-current power supply; a bridge circuit, connected to an opposite end of the reactor, converting an alternating-current first voltage output from the alternating-current power supply into a direct-current voltage; and a current detector detecting an alternating current flowing between the alternating-current power supply and the bridge circuit. The reactor reduces an inductance in accordance with an increase of the alternating current and, when the alternating current exceeds a first current, has an inductance lower than one third of an inductance at which a current does not flow in the reactor. The bridge circuit performs an active operation when the detection value of the alternating current is larger than or equal to the first current and performs a passive operation when the detection value of the alternating current is lower than the first current.

Load driving device, refrigeration cycle applicable apparatus, and air conditioner

A load driving device includes a smoothing capacitor, an inverter, and a control unit. The inverter includes two legs, each including upper and lower arm switching elements connected in series and converts direct-current power stored in the smoothing capacitor into alternating-current power. The control unit performs voltage drop prevention control for preventing the voltage across the smoothing capacitor from becoming a negative voltage. The control unit stops power running control on the load when the capacitor voltage is higher than the sum of a first voltage and a second voltage. The first voltage is a potential difference between a second terminal and a first terminal in the upper-arm. The second voltage is a potential difference between a second terminal and a first terminal in the lower-arm in the same leg as the leg of the upper-arm.

Apparatus for Distributing DC Bus Power and Control Power over Common Conductors in a Distributed DC Bus System

A system for distributing DC bus voltage and control power to multiple motors includes a rectifier front end supplying a DC bus voltage and a DC control voltage. Both the DC bus voltage and the DC control voltage are distributed via a common set of conductors. Diodes are operatively connected between the DC control voltage and the common set of conductors. The diodes allow forward conduction of the DC control voltage and distribution of control power to distributed devices when the DC bus voltage is not present. Once the DC bus voltage is present, the diodes block conduction of the DC control voltage. Each of the distributed devices are configured with an internal power supply that is operative to generate an internal control voltage from either the DC control voltage or the DC bus voltage.

A motor drive comprises a rectifier circuit portion arranged to receive an externally supplied AC voltage and to generate a DC bus voltage. An inverter circuit portion is arranged to receive the DC bus voltage (V.sub.DC_Bus) and to generate an AC output voltage (V.sub.out) for supply to an external load. A DC bus portion is connected between the rectifier and the inverter. An inductor (L.sub.1) is connected in series along a bus conductor between the rectifier and inverter, and a DC link capacitor (C.sub.1) is connected in parallel between the bus conductors. A voltage across the DC link capacitor (C.sub.1) is input to a tuneable notch filter arranged to supply a filtered signal. A controller varies the resonant frequency of the notch filter to a plurality of values across an operational range and modulates a supply current provided by the inverter with a probe current signal at the resonant frequency.
