Coating compositions, coated articles including the coating compositions, and methods of making the coating compositions and coated articles are provided. The present disclosure relates generally to wound dressing compositions that include a β-glucan which can stimulate an immunomodulatory effect on cells within a wound, increase the healing rate of a wound, and stimulate the healing of recalcitrant wounds. The wound dressing includes a mixture of a collagen, a polysaccharide, and a β-glucan.
