Systems and methods for improving quality of a call over network (CON) are provided. Call quality may be improved via buffer length modulation based upon the call scenario type. Scenario detection may be based upon who speaks, and the duration of the speaking, as well as contextual analysis. Further, the call over network quality may further be improved by deploying modules over the network. The modules are intermediary vehicles between each communicator and backend servers. The modules intercept audio packets from the communicator to detect packet loss, and perform recovery of lost packets, thereby accelerating real-time audio conversations.

An electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device includes one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors. The one or more programs include instructions for receiving, from an external device associated with a contact, a request to establish a full-duplex live audio communication session between the electronic device and the external device; determining whether the contact is on a list; and in response to a determination that the contact is on the list, establishing the full-duplex live audio communication session between the electronic device and the external device, where the live audio communication session is established without receiving a user input that acknowledges the request.

An exemplary method includes receiving speech-based instructions from a user of mobile device that indicate a request for executing a task. The speech-based instructions are then analyzed by an intelligent personal assistant running on the mobile device to determine an intent of the user. If the intent of the user identifies a specialized client software module installed on the mobile, the software module will generate a command object that includes parameters relating to the execution of the task. The command object is then transmitted by the first computing device to a personal computer with a legacy operating system where the command object causes a software agent installed on the personal computer to execute the task based on the parameters included in the command object.

A communication system and method for displaying text captions corresponding to voice communications between an assisted user's mobile wireless device and a separate hearing user's device includes at least one communication component configured to enable the appliance to communicate with a relay, a display, and a processor operably coupled to the at least one communication component and the display. The processor is configured to enable the assisted user to establish an association between the appliance and the mobile device, receive text originating at the relay, the text corresponding to a transcript of the hearing user's voice signal originating at the hearing user's device, and cause text captions corresponding to the received text to be displayed on the display.
