BIOLOGICAL FLUID PURIFICATION WITH BIOCOMPATIBLE MEMBRANES
Disclosed are apparatus and methods for blood and other biological fluid purification using a membrane with cell containing vascular channel systems and filtration channel systems. Also disclosed are methods of making the apparatus as well as methods of making membranes.
Methods of making collagen fiber medical constructs and related medical constructs, including patches
Implantable medical constructs formed by winding using winding support structures that can be flexible and can be integrated into the medical construct with biocompatible fiber(s) and/or yarn(s) and at least one continuous length collagen fiber. The implantable medical construct can include open suture anchor apertures formed using posts during a winding sequence.
Sol for tissue perforation closure, ulcer protection, and vascular embolization
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an injectable sol into a body, suited for delivery through a catheter, and usable for tissue perforation closure, ulcer protection, or vascular embolization. Provided are a sol for tissue perforation closure, a sol for ulcer protection, and a sol for vascular embolization, each containing from 0.6 mass % to 3 mass % of a collagen, water, from 200 mM to 330 mM sodium chloride, and a buffer and having a pH from 6.0 to 9.0.
Medical material produced using collagen and method for producing same
Disclosed is a medical material manufactured using collagen and a method of manufacturing the same. The method includes (1) preparing collagen using distilled water as a solvent, (2) filling a syringe with the prepared collagen and then spinning the collagen through a syringe needle, (3) immediately immersing the spun collagen in a cross-linking solution, which is a mixture including therein a hyperosmotic agent and a cross-linking agent mixed with each other, (4) removing and then washing the collagen after cross-linking is completed, and (5) removing and then drying the collagen after the washing is completed. When the collagen is spun and processed into the form of a thread and the spun thread is then cross-linked, the cross-linked collagen thread has increased strength compared to before cross-linking, and the shape thereof is retained in an aqueous solution.
Surgical repair graft
The apparatuses and methods described herein relates generally to the field of active agent (drug) release from surgical grafts useful for soft tissue reconstruction, regeneration, or repair. More particularly, described herein are surgical grafts for soft tissue repair that include active agent that is released over time while advantageously matching the biomechanical properties of tissue during healing and recovery.
Shunt for draining ocular fluid
A shunt for draining ocular fluid of one embodiment includes a tubular body formed of a mesh material including bioactive glass fiber and collagen, the tubular body including an implantation member and a conduit through the implantation member. The implantation member and the conduit are formed integrally. Other embodiments are also contemplated.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR USING STRUCTURED TISSUE AUGMENTATION CONSTRUCTS IN SOFT TISSUE FIXATION REPAIR
Devices, systems, and methods to improve both the reliability of soft tissue repair procedures and the speed at which the procedures are completed are provided. The devices and systems include one or more structured tissue augmentation constructs, which include constructs that are configured to increase a footprint across which suture applied force to tissue when the suture is tied down onto the tissue. The tissue augmentation constructs can be quickly and easily associated with the repair suture and can be useful in many different tissue repair procedures that are disclosed in the application. The present disclosure includes structured tissue augmentation blocks for tendon repair that have a flexible or semi-flexible skeleton integrated into the block. The skeleton can be bioabsorbable and can create both in-plane and out-of-plane curvature in the block.
Collagen compositions and methods of use
The present disclosure provides an engineered collagen composition comprising collagen, wherein the collagen composition is compressed to form a gradient of at least one physical property. Methods of using and of manufacturing the engineered collagen compositions of the present disclosure are also provided.
SURGICAL SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USE
A surgical device includes a substrate and a first coating that covers at least a portion of the substrate. The first coating includes a first polymer. The first coating having antibiotics dispersed in the first polymer such that the first polymer releases the antibiotics as the first polymer degrades. A second coating covers at least a portion of the first coating. The second coating includes a second polymer. The second coating has ellagic acid dispersed in the second polymer such that the second polymer releases the ellagic acid as the second polymer degrades. In some embodiments, systems and methods are disclosed.
Methods, compositions and kits for surgical repair
In some aspects, the present invention provides surgical procedures that comprise applying compositions into and/or onto tissue, including supporting tissues (e.g., ligaments, connective tissue, muscles, etc.) for pelvic organs, among other tissues. In other aspects, the present disclosure pertains to compositions that are useful for performing such procedures. In still other aspects, the present disclosure pertains to kits that are useful for performing such procedures.
