An image capturing device having a power reset function includes a fixed base and a camera. The fixed base has a first assembly portion, and the first assembly portion is provided with a first magnetic member. The camera includes a housing, a circuit board, and a magnetic reset switch electrically connected to the circuit board. The housing has a second assembly portion, and the second assembly portion is provided with a second magnetic member. The second magnetic member and the first magnetic member are configured to be magnetically attracted to each other such that the second assembly portion is correspondingly assembled and disposed on the first assembly portion. The circuit board is disposed inside the housing. The magnetic reset switch is disposed inside the housing and is distant from the second assembly portion.

An electronic device, such as a digital camera, includes a deletion mode whereby a camera/electronic device user can delete captured images or data files that have already been transferred in order to make room in the electronic device or digital camera memory for capturing further images. In one embodiment, a digital camera keeps track of which images have already been transferred to an external storage device and presents those to the user as potential images to be deleted. In another embodiment, the user is presented with a delete all transferred images which when selected deletes all the captured images that have already been transferred. In still another embodiment, deletion criteria are used to prioritize which images are deleted first.

An image forming apparatus includes a display unit with a power saving function, where the display unit is turned off after a predetermined period of time has elapsed to save power. If however, the display unit is displaying a code used by external devices to establish communication with the image forming apparatus, the power saving function is disabled during the time period the code is being displayed.

A method and device for calibrating a power model for a multi-state device. The device includes a processor and a computer readable medium containing instructions to instruct the processor to perform the method. The method includes receiving a device state log comprising a time-based representation of multi-state device states for a first period of time and a power trace comprising a time-based representation of power consumed by the multi-state device for the first period of time; eroding the device state log to reduce potential noise present at state transitions within the device state log, thereby producing an eroded device state log; determining energy consumption for each state transition in the eroded power state log; creating an updated power model for the multi-state device based upon the eroded power state log; and storing the updated power model in a non-transitory computer readable medium operably connected to the multi-state device.

An image forming apparatus includes a display unit with a power saving function, where the display unit is turned off after a predetermined period of time has elapsed to save power. If however, the display unit is displaying a code used by external devices to establish communication with the image forming apparatus, the power saving function is disabled during the time period the code is being displayed.

An image forming apparatus includes a function control processing unit, a clock oscillation unit, power supply control unit including a power supply control processing unit which starts as a power supply of the image forming apparatus is turned on to control energization of constituent elements and control a startup operation of the function control processing unit. Further, the image forming apparatus has a warming-up operation mode in which when the power supply of the image forming apparatus is turned on, the power supply control processing unit starts up to make the clock oscillation unit start operating to transmit a clock signal to the function control processing unit, and in which the power supply control processing unit restarts itself and starts up the function control processing unit after a lapse of a predetermined standby time set beforehand, with the function control processing unit kept inactive.

An image forming apparatus includes: a power supply controller; a network part that performs network communication with a terminal on which operation for an own apparatus is performed; a screen data generator that generates screen data; a screen data transmitter that transmits the screen data to the terminal; and a screen data transmission controller that performs determination as to whether to perform preliminary transmission of the screen data, and when it is determined that preliminary transmission is necessary, the screen data transmission controller notifies the terminal that preliminary transmission of the screen data is to be performed, instructs the screen data generator to generate the screen data to be transmitted in preliminary transmission, instructs the screen data transmitter to perform preliminary transmission of the generated screen data, and causes the power supply controller to shift a power supply state to a power saving state.

An image forming apparatus having a plurality of functional units includes a power failure detection circuit configured to detect a power failure of an external power supply for the image forming apparatus, a rechargeable battery unit, and a control unit. The control unit switches the power supply source of the image forming apparatus from the external power supply to the rechargeable battery unit, and selects one or more of the functional units to power through the rechargeable battery unit based on a remaining capacity of the rechargeable battery unit, when the power failure of the external power supply is detected.

There is provided an image reading apparatus in which a low output mode is a mode that can be controlled in a coupling state where a low power-feeding USB device is coupled, a high output mode is a mode that can be controlled in a coupling state where a high power-feeding USB device capable of feeding power higher than the low power-feeding USB device is coupled, and a control section does not perform image reading at a second reading speed faster than a first reading speed and performs image reading at the first reading speed in the low output mode.
