Radiofrequency filter with improved attenuation of common mode signals
A radiofrequency filter utilizing a common mode choke both as a traditional common mode choke as well as the inductance in a low pass filter. Filter topology as well as component selection is optimized for wide band operation. Common mode chokes allow differential currents to pass with little attenuation while common mode currents are effectively presented with an inductance in the common current path. This inductance is used in a low pass filter configuration to present an even higher attenuation to common mode currents. The use of multiple chokes and/or differing core materials contributes to wider band operation without pronounced resonances. The capacitance used in the low pass filter is connected in a way as to reduce its effect on the data signals while still being effective in filtering.
RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) SHIELDING STRUCTURE FOR RF CONNECTOR TO MICROWAVE TRANSMISSION INTERCONNECT REGIONS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH RF SHIELDING STRUCTURE
An electrically conductive shield for a microwave transmission line-electrical connector interconnect region wherein the microwave transmission line is connected to the electrical connector. An elastic, dielectric material is disposed between opposing surfaces of the dielectric structure and the housing. An electrically conductive material is disposed on an outer surface of the elastic, dielectric material to provide an electrically conductive shield. The electrically conductive shield is disposed over the opposing surfaces of the dielectric structure and the housing.
ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSE/HIGH ALTITUDE ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSE (EMP/HEMP) FILTER SYSTEM
A filter design configured to operate in the medium voltage range of 1000 to 5000 volts, provides protection against Electromagnetic Pulse/High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP/HEMP) intentional electromagnetic interference pulses. The filter utilizes no oil filled components to preclude the catastrophic failures (explosions) during operation. Many of the components incorporated in the present design are suited to absorbing harmonics without failing. In addition to mitigating E1 and E2 pulses, the filter is resistant to line harmonics which have proved to cause filter failure in past designs. The filter provides EMP/HEMP conducted pulse protection for downstream electronics inside hardened shelters for medium and high voltage applications.
