This disclosure describes co-extruded multilayer articles including at least one continuous layer and one discontinuous layer, as well as systems and techniques for the manufacture of co-extruded multilayer articles. For example, a co-extruded multilayer article is described that includes a body having a plurality of layers, where a first layer of the plurality of layers is formed from a first material and is continuous along a longitudinal axis of the body, and a second layer of the plurality of layers is formed from a second material and is discontinuously co-extruded along the longitudinal axis.

A process for manufacturing finished wire and cable having reduced coefficient of friction and pulling force during installation, includes providing a payoff reel containing at least one internal conductor wire; supplying the at least one internal conductor wire from the reel to at least one extruder; providing the least one extruder, wherein the least one extruder applies an insulating material and a polymerized jacket composition over the at least one internal conductor wire, wherein the polymerized jacket composition comprises a predetermined amount by weight of nylon; a predetermined amount by weight of mineral oil in the range of 0.1% to 5% by weight; and a predetermined amount of silica in the range of 2% to 9% by weight; providing a cooling device for lowering the temperature of the extruded insulating material and the polymerized jacket composition and cooling the insulating material and the polymerized jacket composition in the cooling device; and, reeling onto a storage reel the finished, cooled, wire and cable for storage and distribution.
FOAMABLE POLYOLEFIN COMPOSITION PROVIDING INCREASED FLEXIBILITY

The present invention relates to a cable jacket comprising a random heterophasic propylene copolymer, wherein said copolymer comprises a matrix (M) being a random propylene copolymer (R-PP) and dispersed therein an elastomeric propylene copolymer (E), wherein the random propylene copolymer (R-PP) has a melt flow rate MFR2 (230° C./2.16 kg) of 0.1 to 10.0 g/10 min and wherein the elastomeric propylene copolymer (E) has a comonomer content in the range of 40.0 to 55.0 mol %, and wherein said copolymer has MFR2 (230° C.) in the range of from 0.5 to 15 g/10 min, flexural modulus below 400 MPa, and relaxation spectrum index (RSI) at 200° C. below 20.0. The present invention further relates to a telecommunication cable comprising said jacket.
HIGH DENSITY SHIELDED ELECTRICAL CABLE AND OTHER SHIELDED CABLES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A shielded electrical ribbon cable includes adjacent first and second longitudinal conductor sets where each conductor set includes two or more insulated conductors. The first conductor set also includes a ground conductor that generally lies in the plane of the insulated conductors of the first conductor set. At least 90% of the periphery of each conductor set is encompassed by a shielding film. First and second non-conductive polymeric films are disposed on opposite sides of the cable and form cover portions substantially surrounding each conductor set, and pinched portions on each side of each conductor set. When the cable is laid flat, the distance between the center of the ground conductor of the first conductor set and the center of the nearest insulated conductor of the second conductor set is σ1, the center-to-center spacing of the insulated conductors of the second conductor set is σ2, and σ1/σ2 is greater than 0.7.

A method of producing a heat-resistant crosslinked fluororubber formed body, including: step (1) melt-mixing, with respect to 100 mass parts of base rubber containing 60 to 99 mass % of fluororubber and 1 to 40 mass % of ethylene-based copolymer resin modified with unsaturated carboxylic acid, 0.003 to 0.5 mass parts of organic peroxide, 0.5 to 400 mass parts of inorganic filler, 2 to 15 mass parts of silane coupling agent, and silanol condensation catalyst, in which the step (1) includes, step (a) melt-mixing all or part of the base rubber, the organic peroxide, the inorganic filler and the silane coupling agent at a temperature equal to or higher than a decomposition temperature of the organic peroxide, and step (b) melt-mixing a remainder of the base rubber, and the silanol condensation catalyst, to melt-mix the thus-modified ethylene-based copolymer resin in at least one of the steps (a) and (b).

Paste containing polytetrafluoroethylene and method for producing same
The present invention aims to provide a paste containing polytetrafluoroethylene which can be formed into a molded polytetrafluoroethylene article having a significantly small thickness of polytetrafluoroethylene and is less likely to cause defects in molding; and a method of producing the paste. The present invention provides a method of producing a paste, including the steps of coagulating primary particles of polytetrafluoroethylene in an aqueous dispersion that contains the primary particles and water to form slurry that contains secondary particles of polytetrafluoroethylene and water or secondary particles of polytetrafluoroethylene floating in water; and adding an organic solvent to at least one of the slurry and the secondary particles of polytetrafluoroethylene floating in water to provide the paste.
