PRESSURE CONTROL IN PHACOEMULSIFICATION SYSTEM

A surgical system comprises a pressurized irrigation fluid source with a flexible bag located between two opposing plates. An irrigation line is fluidly coupled to the pressurized irrigation fluid source. A hand piece with an irrigation sleeve is fluidly coupled to the irrigation line. A controller controls the pressurized irrigation fluid source based on a rate of change of a source pressure associated with the pressurized irrigation fluid source and a rate of change of a linear displacement of one or both opposing plates.

A device for nasal lavage is described. The device ejects a gentle flow of fluid under pressure. The fluid stream provides a high quantity of fluid at low pressure. The low pressure fluid stream is more comfortable for a user than a high pressure fluid stream that is delivered by some types of pressurized cans of solution.

SHOWER WASHING SYSTEM AND METHOD

A system and method for cleansing a cavity in a living body is disclosed. The system uses pressurized water from a plumbing system and directs a portion of that water into a douche pipe for cleaning the cavity. The system includes a shower attachment member that is configured to collect water from the plumbing. Also included is a douche pipe configured to direct the flow of water toward the opening of the cavity in a rearward axial direction so as to let the pressure of the water pull bacteria or infections directly to the opening for removal. The douche pipe includes at least one port that is oriented in a non-perpendicular orientation.

An assembly for dispensing fluid is described. In some implementations, an assembly can include a housing containing fluid, where the housing includes a conduit. The assembly can also include an actuator operably attached to the conduit of the housing. The actuator can include a body portion surrounding a cavity; a tip portion having a fluid path that is fluidly connected to the cavity, the cavity being fluidly connected to the conduit, and a channel support including a fluid passage space under pressure. The assembly can further include a collector having a collection zone configured to collect the fluid dispensed by the actuator.

DEVICES FOR COOLING THE NASAL CAVITY

A method for cerebral cooling is described using a cooling assembly, which includes first and second elongate tubular members adapted for insertion into a nasal cavity of a patient through the patient's nostrils. The elongate tubular members each have a proximal end, a distal end, a lumen extending therebetween, and a plurality of ports in fluid communication with the lumen. The cooling assembly also includes a manifold and a reservoir, which contains a pressurized fluid that includes a propellant having a boiling point less than 22 C. The elongate tubular members are inserted into the nasal cavity through the patient's nostrils and pressurized fluid is delivered onto a surface of the nasal cavity by infusing the pressurized fluid from the reservoir through the manifold, into the lumens and through the plurality of ports of the first and second elongate tubular members.

Nasal Drug Delivery Device and Method of Making Same

A drug delivery device capable of forming a medicated mist that reaches the nasal and paranasal sinus cavities contains a puncturing element within its canister. The puncturing element is used in combination with a compartment that contains a filling. The compartment is optionally detachable from an interior of the device or entirely separate from the device. The puncturing element punctures the compartment, releasing the filling into the reservoir of the device to provide a medicated liquid. The device may store any form of medication so long as the medication remains stable. When dry powder forms are desired, the reservoir and/or compartment may be filled with a solution or diluent so as to form the medicated liquid, which may then be dispensed as a mist through the device following the puncturing.

PORTABLE DOUCHING APPARATUS

A portable douching apparatus that provides efficient and safe internal cleansing is disclosed. The douching apparatus can be used in the shower, offering a portable, discreet, and efficient, shower-powered solution for douching without the need for tools or installation. As described below, the apparatus includes a self-sealing elastomeric connector that allows a secure mounting on a shower or another water-providing fixture, a water pressure release mechanism that allows to reduce internal water pressure that could disrupt the connection to the fixture, and body-safe tip optimized for insertion into an orifice of a living organism. These features ensure a hygienic, safe internal use and compatibility with a narrow-diameter hose and tip, allowing the device to function under various levels of shower water pressure and providing a significant improvement over existing douching products.
