Trans anal irrigation platform with bed module

A trans anal irrigation device that can be used on a bed. The device includes a rectal catheter connected to an irrigation fluid supply. A waste collection bag is also connected to the catheter. The catheter may be insertable in a seat attached to a fluid supply line. A valve in one of the catheter or seat selectably allows or prevents fluid communication between the catheter and a waste collection bag. The catheter may include an inflationless cuff made of a flexible material that permits it to be inserted in the rectum to prevent leakage around the exterior of the catheter.

20230089826 · 2023-03-23 ·

A device for intermittently triggering a coordinated defecation reflex in the rectum or colon of a patient, said device comprising a catheter with an inflexible catheter shaft and a preformed inflatable balloon, the inflatable balloon comprising at least an intrarectal balloon segment having, in an inflated, but unpressurized state of the balloon, a generally spherical or discoid shape and a maximal first radius, and being adapted to be placed intrarectally; wherein the inflatable balloon is fixed onto the catheter shaft only at fixation points located at the ends of the inflatable balloon, wherein both ends of the inflatable balloon taper to a shaft dimension of the catheter shaft supporting the inflatable balloon, with the distal end of the balloon having a tapered second radius; wherein, in an inflated, but unpressurized state of the balloon, the difference between the first radius of the intrarectal balloon segment and the second radius of the distal tapered balloon end is equal to a first difference, and further wherein the first difference is greater than a distance between a distal front side of the catheter and a distal fixation point, where the tapered distal end of the balloon is in contact with the catheter shaft and is fixed thereto; wherein the distal front side of the catheter is at a distalmost extension of the catheter shaft or of a distal tip piece of the catheter shaft; and wherein the inflatable balloon is configured such that when the inflatable balloon is in a pressurized state exceeding 30 mbar, at least a portion of the distal intrarectal balloon segment engages and expands a side wall of the rectum or colon of the patient, whereby to trigger a coordinated defecation reflex in the rectum or colon of the patient.

RECTUM EXPANDING BALLOON CATHETER

Disclosed is a rectum expanding balloon catheter. The rectum expanding balloon catheter includes a catheter body having a rectum insertion part inserted into a rectum and a gripping part extending from the rectum insertion part in a lengthwise direction thereof and that is used to insert the rectum insertion part into the rectum, and in which a fluid flow passage, along which a fluid flows, is formed in an interior thereof, a balloon that expands and contracts an area on an outside of the rectum insertion part and that locates the rectum insertion part in the rectum, and a stopper provided in the catheter body, and that restricts a length, by which the catheter body is inserted into the rectum, while being adhered to a periphery of an anal passage.

Stool Management System

A stool management system having a tubular body including a first end section disposable in a rectum of a patient and a second end section including a first connector which detachably mates with a second connector coupled to a collection container which receives waste matter passed through the tubular body from the bowel of the patient.

DEVICE FOR THE REPETITIVE SUPPLY AND DRAINING OF SUBSTANCES FOR MEDICAL THERAPY, AND SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING FECAL CONTINENCE BY INTERMITTENT COLON LAVAGE BY MEANS OF A PERMANENTLY PLACED TRANS-ANAL OCCLUDING OR ACCESS CATHETER
20230123967 · 2023-04-20 ·

A device for carrying out a lavage-like, repetitive supply and draining of a flushing, cleaning or other therapeutically active substance in the context of a return-flow enema, the device comprising: a catheter unit (SK) for receiving and draining feces, which can be permanently placed atraumatically and anorectally; a flushing and collecting bag unit (5, SB) with a combined flushing and collecting function; and a hose unit (4) connecting the catheter unit (SK) to the flushing and collecting bag unit (5, SB), comprising a single-lumen or multi-lumen, film-like, flatly collapsible, hose, and enabling a bidirectional flow communication between the catheter unit (SK) and the flushing and collecting bag unit (5; SB); characterized by at least one throughflow element with a flow-direction-dependent throttle function, providing a large lumen for draining of the patient's intestinal contents into the flushing and collecting bag unit (5; SB), so that shaped stool fractions can be drained, and which facilitates a supply of liquid from the flushing and collecting bag unit (5; SB) towards the patient, but wherein the supply of liquid towards the patient is throttled, so as to be reduced in flow amount or flow speed in relation to the draining of the patient's intestinal contents and thereby reduces the supply of liquid to the patient to a non-irritating amount that is compatible with the patient avoiding painful sensations and/or vegetative responses by an immediate dilation of the patient's colon and/or a triggering of a premature or only partially coordinated defecation reflex.

Fecal management systems and methods

Fecal management methods and apparatuses (e.g., devices, systems, etc.) may apply one or more fecal removal cycles of suction and irrigation (and in some examples air) to actively remove fecal material. The apparatus may control the timing of delivery of the fecal removal cycles as well as the parameters of the applied suction, irrigation and/or air within and between fecal removal cycles.

Ablation systems and methods of the present disclosure include a catheter including one or more image sensors. The one or more image sensors can facilitate, for example, positioning an ablation electrode at a treatment site of an anatomic structure and, additionally or alternatively, can facilitate controlling delivery of therapeutic energy to a treatment site of an anatomic structure.

Irrigation system with pump

An irrigation system including a reservoir with an inlet adapted to guide liquid into the reservoir, the inlet defining a closure for closing the inlet, an insertion member defining an insertion end sized for insertion into a body cavity of a human being, the insertion member defining at least one opening, and a liquid tube fluidly connecting the reservoir with the insertion member, at least one of the reservoir and the insertion member being permanently fastened to the liquid tube and further including an electrical pump adapted to pump liquid from the reservoir and out through the at least one opening of the insertion member, the electrical pump adapted to be separable from the system.

Dilation instrument with navigation and distally located force sensor

A system includes a dilation catheter and a guide member. The dilation catheter includes a proximal end, a distal end, a dilator, a navigation sensor, and a force sensor. The dilator is positioned proximal to the distal end and is configured to transition between a non-dilated configuration and a dilated configuration. The navigation sensor is positioned distal to the dilator and is configured to cooperate with a guidance system and thereby provide signals indicating a position of the dilation catheter in three-dimensional space. The force sensor is positioned distal to the dilator and is configured to provide signals indicating a force encountered by the force sensor. The dilation catheter is configured to slide relative to the guide member. A distal portion of the guide member is sized and configured to fit in a nasal cavity of a patient.

A system for anal and/or stomal irrigation of a user's bowel comprises a reservoir (102) for an irrigating liquid, a catheter (100) for insertion into the rectum and/or stoma of a user and for expelling of the irrigating liquid from a catheter tip, and an expandable retention element (104), such as a balloon, for fixation of the catheter tip within the user's rectum or stoma. Tubing and valve systems provide conduits for the irrigating liquid between the reservoir and the catheter and between the reservoir and the expandable retention element, a pump (101) being provided within the tubing system. The pump and the valve system is controllable to selectively pump the irrigating liquid into the expandable retention element, transfer the irrigating liquid through the catheter for expelling of the irrigating fluid from the catheter tip and into the user's rectum or stoma, and to withdraw the irrigating liquid from the retention element for purging thereof.
