A DEVICE FOR THE TREATMENT OF ANAL FISTULA-IN-ANO AND COMPLEX FISTULA-IN-ANO
A device for the treatment of anal fistula-in-ano and complex fistula-in-ano is disclosed. The device comprises: a balloon inflation/deflation tube (1); a suction/drainage tube (3); a scooping tube (2) that is disposed between the balloon inflation/deflation tube (1) and the suction/drainage tube (3); a diaphragm (4) that is disposed across the balloon inflation/deflation tube (1) and the suction/drainage tube (3); and an irrigation/drainage path (5) that is disposed between a balloon (6) and a plurality of spikes (7), said balloon (6) being disposed at an end of the of the balloon inflation/deflation tube (1), and said plurality of spikes (7) being disposed on an outer surface of both the balloon inflation/deflation tube (1) and the suction/drainage tube (3). The disclosed device: prevents premature closure of fistula wound, thereby minimizing the chances of recurrence; is easy to use, thus avoiding the need for a skilled medical practitioner; causes minimal pain; and is less time consuming.
A SELF-RETAINING ENEMA NOZZLE AND AN ENEMA SYSTEM COMPRISING SAID ENEMA NOZZLE
The present invention relates to a self-retaining enema nozzle (1,1′,1″,1′″) and an enema system (34) comprising said enema nozzle. The enema nozzle (1,1′,1″,1′″) comprises a catheter (2) provided with a retention member (3) arranged for being placed in a compact form during insertion in a body cavity and for being placed in an expanded form for retaining the enema nozzle in said body cavity, and wherein the enema nozzle (1,1′,1″,1′″) further comprises a restriction unit (4) arranged for placing the retention member (3) in its compact form. Since the restriction unit (4) holds, e.g. keeps, places and/or maintains the retention member (3) in the compact form both before and during insertion, any discomfort and/or harm that may be experienced using the conventional enema nozzles/devices is effectively prevented.
INFLATION OF BALLOON IN BOWEL IRRIGATION SYSTEM
A method for inflating an inflatable balloon of a catheter for a bowel irrigation system is disclosed. The bowel irrigation system comprises a container for holding a liquid, a catheter, a tubing connecting the container and the catheter, a pump, a control unit, and a pressure sensor. The catheter is adapted for being inserted into a rectum of a user and comprises an inflatable balloon. The pump is adapted for pumping liquid from the container to the balloon through the tubing. The control unit comprises a processor. The pressure sensor is in fluid communication with an interior of the inflatable balloon. The method comprises the steps of providing a liquid in the container and initiating an inflation process comprising a feedback loop comprising the steps of (i) inflating the balloon by a predefined amount of liquid, (ii) assessing a static pressure inside the balloon, and (iii) selecting an output based on the static pressure as assessed according to step (ii), the output being selected from restarting the feedback loop according to step (i), skipping step (i) and proceeding to assessing the static pressure according to step (ii), and terminating the feedback loop. Thereby, a method for providing a stepwise inflation of an inflatable balloon for a bowel irrigation system is provided.
Dilator device
A dilator device including an elongated flexible material sleeve having a hollow interior extending along a distal portion and a proximal portion thereof. An expandable or inflatable bladder is connected to the distal portion and disposable radially outward from an exterior of the sleeve when in an expanded and/or inflated orientation. The elongated sleeve including a tip having a predetermined configuration that facilitates positioning the elongated sleeve within an intended body part. A fluid input is structured for removable connection to a fluid source and is disposed on the sleeve, in fluid communication with the bladder. An access opening is formed on the proximal portion and is cooperatively dimensioned with the hollow interior to removably receive any one of a plurality of different types of positioning instruments within the sleeve.
CONTROL OF BALLOON SIZE IN BOWEL IRRIGATION SYSTEM
A bowel irrigation system comprising a container adapted for containing a liquid, a catheter comprising an inflated balloon, a tubing connecting the container and the catheter, a pump, a control unit for controlling a flow of fluid in the system, and a pressure sensor is disclosed. The system comprises means for deflating the balloon, as a response to an assessment of a first pressure inside the balloon being greater than a first threshold value, by reducing the amount of liquid inside the balloon by a first amount of liquid. In addition, a method for deflating an inflatable balloon, as a response to an assessment of a first pressure inside the balloon being greater than a first threshold value, by reducing the amount of liquid inside the balloon by a first amount of liquid is disclosed.
Trans-anal inflow catheter for intermittently triggering a reflex-coordinated defecation
The invention relates to a device for transanally introducing an infusion into the rectum or colon of a patient, said device comprising a catheter with a catheter shaft wherein, to ensure the most practicable catheter insertion possible, the catheter shaft is equipped in the proximal, preanal region with gripping depressions to accommodate the fingers gripping the catheter during insertion.
Flexible double lumen tube and a tube coupling system for same
A tube coupling component (4;6) serves for use in a tube coupling system and an irrigation system. The tube coupling component (4;6) comprises a male coupling part (12) opposite a respective female coupling part (11), or a first end fitting (33) opposite a respective second end fitting (34), which tube coupling component (4;6) has an interior pipe (13;31) that extends axially inside an exterior pipe (14;32), wherein the interior pipe (13;31) and the exterior pipe (14;32) are concentric.
