METHODS OF URGING A CATHETER FROM A CLOSED URINARY CATHETER SYSTEM
20220211973 · 2022-07-07 ·

A sterile closed intermittent urinary catheter system which is an easier to use by virtue of ergonomic shaping to facilitate advancement and retrieval of the catheter from the collection bag. The bag may have a closed internal hole adjacent an indent in one edge that creates a narrow channel through which the catheter passes. The narrow channel is located near to and in alignment with an outlet assembly so that the catheter extends from the narrow channel directly to the outlet. A user may easily grasp the catheter from outside the bag at the narrow channel and urge the catheter forward or backward to alternately extend and retract it through the outlet. A flexible pusher sleeve with gripper features may be added around the narrow channel to further facilitate catheter advancement.

Ready-to-use urinary catheter assembly

Frictionless catheter

A catheter may include a tubular member having a lumen and an outer surface, a sleeve configured to be positioned in the lumen in a retracted configuration and to evert over at least a portion of the outer surface in an everted configuration, and a filament configured to retract the sleeve into the retracted configuration. The catheter may include an aperture proximal of a distal end, where the filament extends through the aperture from the lumen. A pull member may be on a distal end of the filament. The filament may be looped, coiled, and/or bunched in the catheter when the sleeve is in the retracted configuration. A shuttle may be attached to a distal end of the sleeve, where the shuttle includes a tubular member configured to maintain patency of the sleeve, and the filament engages the shuttle to retract the sleeve into the lumen.

REUSABLE URINARY CATHETER PRODUCTS

A reusable urinary catheter (72), comprising a catheter tube (12), a drainage member (22), the proximal end portion of the drainage member being connected to the distal end of the catheter tube, the distal end portion of the drainage member defining a drainage opening (28); a collapsible sleeve (18) surrounding the catheter tube, an introducer attached to the proximal end portion of the sleeve and the distal end portion of the sleeve being attached to the drainage member, the drainage member including channels (23) in fluid communication with the interior cavity of the sleeve, the channels allowing passage of sterilization fluid into and out of the sleeve; a holder (74) having a first port (66) and a second port (68), the introducer being releasably attached to the first port and the drainage member being releasable attached to the second port; and a sterilization fluid located within the sleeve.

Delivery device for a vascular access instrument

A delivery device for delivering an instrument into a catheter assembly may include a housing having a proximal end, a distal end, and a slot. The delivery device may include a guide feature, which may be disposed within the housing. The guide feature may extend through the slot. The delivery device may include an instrument disposed within the housing and extending through the guide feature. In response to movement of the guide feature along the slot in the distal direction a first distance, a first end of the instrument may be advanced in the distal direction a second distance, which may be greater than the first distance. A second end of the instrument may be stationary with respect to the housing.

Glans Guard

The present invention relates to a guard or protective device for the glans and foreskin of a male reproductive organ or penis during a urinary catheterization process. The device generally includes a tubular body designed to be worn on a male reproductive organ or penis. The tubular body includes an opening for receiving a catheter, and an open bottom end for receiving the penis. A strap attached to the tubular body is placed below the scrotum to maintain the tubular body covering the penis in a desired position for the catheterization process. The strap can be adjusted, using at least one ladder lock buckle or similar fastener.

Devices and methods for fluid transfer through a placed peripheral intravenous catheter

An apparatus includes a catheter, an introducer, and an actuator. A distal end portion of the introducer is configured to be coupled to a peripheral intravenous line. The introducer defines an inner volume having a first portion that defines an axis parallel to and offset from an axis defined by a second portion. A first portion of the actuator is movably disposed in the first portion of the inner volume. A second portion of the actuator is movably disposed in the second portion of the inner volume and coupled to the catheter movably disposed in the second portion of the inner volume. The actuator moves the catheter between a first position, in which the catheter is disposed within the introducer, and a second position, in which at least a portion of the catheter is disposed within the peripheral intravenous line.

Fiber Optics Oximetry System for Detection and Confirmation

Disclosed herein is a system, apparatus and method directed to placing a medical instrument in a vasculature of a patient body, including an optical fiber with one or more core fibers. The system can include a console having non-transitory computer-readable medium storing logic that, when executed, causes operations of providing an incident light signal to the optical fiber, receiving a reflected light signal of the incident light, wherein the reflected light signal is reflected from at least one of red blood cells or tissue within the patient body, processing the reflected light signal to determine an oxygen level within the patient body near a distal tip of the optical fiber. The method may further include determining a location of the distal tip of the optical fiber within the patient body at least based on the oxygen level.
