CATHETER ASSEMBLY
A catheter assembly is disclosed, which includes a catheter; a catheter hub fixed to a base end portion of the catheter; an inner needle having a needlepoint, inserted into the catheter; a needle hub coupled to the inner needle; a needle support portion configured to support the inner needle through the catheter on a leading end side beyond the catheter hub, the needle support portion having a pair of support arms openable and closeable in a different direction to an axis of the inner needle; a restraining portion capable of restraining the pair of support arms in a closed state and releasing a restraint of the pair of support arms; and wherein the restraining portion is movable with respect to the pair of support arms by a distal movement of the catheter hub relative to the inner needle, which releases the restraint with respect to the pair of support arms.
NEEDLE COVER RETENTION
A catheter system may include a catheter adapter, which may include a body and a nose extending distally from the body. The nose may be generally cylindrical. A strain relief rib may be disposed on the nose. The strain relief rib may be constructed of a flexible material. A bump may be disposed on the strain relief rib and configured to contact a needle cover. A catheter may be secured within the catheter adapter and extend distally beyond the nose.
HOLLOW NEEDLE AND PIVOTABLE HUB SYSTEM
A needling system, for use in areas where thin hollow needles are used to inject or aspirate fluids and gases, is provided and comprises a thin, rigid tube body needle that is open on both ends and throughout the length with one sharp end. The needle body and hub are designed such that the needle has a ball end that fits within a socket of the hub forming a seal and allowing the needle to be oriented non-colinearly and non-parallel to the central axis of the hub. Needle orientation relative to the hub can be limited from a conical volume to a planar or multi planar angular orientations. The needle so configured allows the user to circumvent an obstacle that otherwise inhibit direct linear access to a point-of-interest by providing a device that can fit around or between obstructions providing optimal direct path towards the desired therapy delivery point.
INTRAVENOUS CATHETER SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An intravenous (IV) catheter system may include a catheter adapter having a proximal end and a distal end. The IV catheter system may also include a cannula extending through the catheter adapter. A proximal end of the cannula may include a notch. The IV catheter system may also include a needle hub, which may be coupled to the proximal end of the catheter adapter. The needle hub may include a flashback chamber, which may be in fluid communication with the notch when the IV catheter system is in an insertion configuration.
IV CATHETER INSERTION GUIDE
An IV catheter insertion guide is configured to reduce the pain a patient may experience during catheter insertion. The IV catheter insertion guide may include two platforms that can be positioned on opposing sides of the insertion site. An upstream platform can include an ultrasonic transducer or another type of heating component for increasing the temperature of tissue near the insertion site. This heating of the tissue can cause the targeted vessel to relax and increase its cross-sectional area prior to insertion of the catheter. A downstream platform can also include an ultrasonic transducer for stimulating nerves downstream from the insertion site during the insertion of the catheter. The stimulation of the downstream nerves may reduce the pain signal that is transmitted to the central nervous system in response to the catheter insertion.
Catheter assembly
A catheter assembly comprises: a catheter; a catheter hub fixed to a proximal end portion of the catheter; an inner needle disposed inside the catheter; and a housing; wherein a distal end of the housing comprises a portion configured to support the inner needle via the catheter; wherein, when the catheter assembly is in an initial state in which a distal end of the inner needle protrudes from a distal end of the catheter, the housing accommodates the catheter hub; and wherein the catheter hub is configured to rotate with respect to the inner needle and the housing when accommodated inside the housing.
Catheter needle assembly with enclosable needle
Methods and devices to facilitate positioning of a catheter into a vessel. Devices include axially concentric assemblies of a piercing cannula, a shield and tubing such as a catheter where the shield can be passively or actively locked into position over the cannula tip to prevent inadvertent needle sticks.
Skin Nicking Device for Catheter Placement System
A catheter placement system including a catheter having a catheter tube distally coupled to a catheter hub having one or more extension legs proximally coupled to the catheter hub. The catheter tube defines one or more lumens where each of the one or more lumens is in fluid communication with one of the extension legs. The catheter placement system further includes a skin nicking device configured to transition between a sheathed configuration and a deployed configuration. The skin nicking device includes a needle defining a needle lumen, having a needle wall including one or more slots in fluid communication with an outside surface of the needle, and one or more blades configured to be aligned with the one or more slots, the one or more blades coupled to a distal end of one or more connecting members within the needle lumen.
Infusion bump capture needle shield
An infusion device includes a base for removably coupling to a fluid deliver device, a needle hub supporting an introducer needle and a catheter for delivering a substance to a patient. The infusion device includes a needle shield for covering the introducer needle after inserting the catheter into the patient. The needle shield includes a leg with a latching tab to couple to the coupling of the base until the legs spring outward to release the coupling. The legs have inwardly extending overlapping arms with an aperture receiving the introducer needle. A spring guard is formed on the needle shield and is spring biased inwardly toward the introducer needle to contact the arms. The introducer needle is retracted to release the arms allowing the arms to spring outwardly to disengage from the coupling of the base and to enable spring guard to spring inwardly to cover the tip of the introducer needle.
CATHETER POSITION INDICATOR AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHOD
A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter having a catheter extending from its distal end. The catheter may include a proximal end, a tip, and a length of tubing therebetween. The length of tubing may include one or more position indicators to indicate a position of the catheter relative to a vasculature. The catheter assembly may include an introducer needle extending through the length of tubing and comprising a sharp distal tip configured to introduce the catheter into the vasculature.
