According to an embodiment of the disclosure, a series or source feedback is provided to a solid-state power amplifier to achieve improved amplifier output power, good impedance match, and low voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR). In an embodiment, an inductive element is coupled to the source of the power amplifier transistor to serve as a series or source feedback for the transistor. In an embodiment, a high-impedance microstrip is provided as an inductive element coupled to the source of the transistor. In an embodiment, a series or source feedback is provided to each amplifier in a multistage amplifier circuit. In an embodiment, a greater series or source feedback is provided at a later stage of a multistage amplifier circuit, whereas a smaller series or source feedback is provided at an earlier stage of the multistage amplifier circuit.

LOW LOSS TRANSMISSION LINE WITH STEPPED STRUCTURES

A transmission line includes a signal conductor and one or more return conductors, one or more of which having a stepped multi-layer structure. The return conductors may be disposed at opposite sides of the signal conductor. The return conductors may be multi-layer structures. At least some layers of each return conductor may have a stepped arrangement that defines a curve, such as an exponential curve. Additionally or alternatively, the signal conductor may be a stepped multi-layer structure, where at least some layers of the signal conductor may define a curve, such as an exponential curve. The signal conductor may be disposed at one or more upper layers of the transmission line or may be embedded at one or more layers near the center of the transmission line.

A multilayer substrate includes an insulator that includes a first region and a second region that is thinner than the first region, and a first signal line and a second signal line that are structured to extend across the first region and the second region. In a region in which the first signal line and the second signal line face each other, a line width of the first signal line and a line width of the second signal line are smaller in the second region than in the first region, and a distance between the first signal line and the second signal line is smaller in the second region than in the first region.

LOW LOSS AND LOW CROSS TALK TRANSMISSION LINES USING SHAPED VIAS

Embodiments of the invention include a packaged device with transmission lines that have an extended thickness, and methods of making such device. According to an embodiment, the packaged device may include a first dielectric layer and a first transmission line formed over the first dielectric layer. Embodiments may then include a second dielectric layer formed over the transmission line and the first dielectric layer. According to an embodiment, a first line via may be formed through the second dielectric layer and electrically coupled to the first transmission line. In some embodiments, the first line via extends substantially along the length of the first transmission line.

The reference voltage plane is separated from the first power plane and the second power plane by a dielectric material.

Capacitors are disclosed. A capacitor includes a plate-to-plate capacitor and a finger-to-finger capacitor. The plate-to-plate capacitor includes at least a first plate and a second plate. The second plate is in proximity to the first plate. The finger to finger capacitor is in proximity to the first plate. The finger to finger capacitor includes a first plurality of finger elements and a second plurality of finger elements. The second plurality of finger elements is interleaved with the first plurality of finger elements. The first plurality of finger elements is electrically connected to the first plate and the second plurality of finger elements is electrically connected to the second plate. The second plurality of finger elements and the first plate form additional plate-to-plate capacitors.

The dielectric waveguide line transmits a high-frequency signal in a transmission region surrounded by a first conductor layer, a second conductor layer, and two arrays of via hole groups. A coupling window is formed in the second conductor layer. The rectangular waveguide is disposed in such a way that an open end surface of the rectangular waveguide faces the coupling window, and that the transmission direction of the dielectric waveguide line becomes orthogonal to the transmission direction of the rectangular waveguide. A plurality of recesses are formed on a first substrate surface in the vicinity of the coupling window. A recessed conductor layer electrically connected to the first conductor layer is formed on inner wall surfaces of the plurality of recesses.

A printed circuit board includes: a conductor plate below the inner dielectric layer; some vias through the inner dielectric layer, bonded to the conductor plate, centered at respective points on an upper surface of the conductor plate; a ground conductor above the inner dielectric layer, bonded to the vias, extending outwardly from any quadrangle with vertices being the nearest four points of the points; an electromagnetic resonance plate above the inner dielectric layer and inside the quadrangle, electrically connected to the ground conductor and the vias with a portion other than a protruding outer edge serving as a junction; an upper dielectric layer above the electromagnetic resonance plate; and a differential transmission line pair composed of a pair of strip conductors overlapping with the electromagnetic resonance plate, above the upper dielectric layer. The conductor plate and the vias constitute an electromagnetic field confinement structure.

Dual slot common mode noise filter

A multiple-layer circuit board has a signaling layer plane, an exterior layer plane, and a ground layer plane. A pair of differential signal lines implemented as strip-lines are within the signaling layer, and propagate electromagnetic interference (EMI) along the signaling layer. A dual slot common mode noise filter may be etched within the ground layer and may include a first U-shaped etching pair comprising a first U-shaped etching and a second U-shaped etching opposing the first U-shaped etching within the ground layer plane.
