DOSE DETECTION WITH PIEZOELECTRIC SENSING FOR A MEDICATION DELIVERY DEVICE
20230173189 · 2023-06-08 ·

The present disclosure relates to a medication delivery device having a dose detection system and an associated control system configured to determine an amount of medication delivered from the medication delivery device based on the sensing of relative rotation within the medication delivery device. The relative rotation may occur between a dose setting member and an actuator and/or housing of the medication delivery device. The rotation sensing may involve piezoelectric sensing, more specifically repeatedly deforming a piezoelectric sensor with a mechanical force. The dose detection system may be a modular or integral component of the medication delivery device.

PORTABLE VENTILATOR

A portable oxygen delivery system including an oxygen concentrator having a housing, a compressor mounted inside the housing, a sieve module located within the housing and in fluid connection with the compressor, the sieve module containing a zeolite for removing Nitrogen from air through a pressure swing adsorption process for creating concentrated oxygen, a power source attached to the housing and an oxygen controller device for electronically controlling the pressure swing adsorption process. The portable oxygen delivery system also preferably includes a blowing apparatus fluidly connected to the oxygen concentrator having a blower housing, a blower motor mounted inside the blower housing, a blower fan connected to the blower motor, a second power source attached to the blower housing and a blower controller device for electronically controlling the blower.

Nebulisation of Liquids

A device is disclosed for the preparation of nebulised droplets, for inhalation. The device has: a surface acoustic wave (SAW) transmission surface; a SAW transducer adapted to generate and propagate SAWs along the SAW transmission surface; and an array of cavities opening at the SAW transmission surface for containing a liquid. In operation, SAWs propagating along the SAW transmission surface interact with the liquid in the cavities to produce nebulised droplets of the liquid. Operation of the device results in a nebulised plume of droplets of average diameter in the range 1-5 μm.

MEDICATION DELIVERY DEVICE WITH SENSING SYSTEM

Medication delivery devices are provided having a dose delivery sensing capability. A sensed element is attached to a dose setting member of the device. The sensed element includes surface features radially-spaced from one another. A rotational sensor is attached to an actuator of the device. The rotational sensor includes a movable element that is contactable against the surface features. The rotational sensor is configured to generate a signal in response to the movement of the movable element over the surface features during their rotation. A controller is operatively coupled to the rotational sensor, and in response to receiving the generated signal, the controller is configured to determine a number of the surface features passing the movable element of the rotational sensor during dose delivery. The number can be associated with an amount of dose delivered. Sensing can be provided in a module or integrated in device.

Adhesive and peripheral systems and methods for medical devices

Fill stations and base stations are provided for personal pump systems. The fill stations may be opened and closed to accept a reservoir and to allow fluid to be introduced into the reservoir for use with personal pump systems. The fill stations may hold the reservoir at a tilt relative to an underlying surface and may discourage overfilling of the reservoir. The filling stations may also include viewing windows having fluid lines marked thereon for indicating volume of fluid within the reservoir.
