SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATED ADJUSTMENT OF A PRESSURE SET BY A VENTILATION DEVICE
A system for automated adjustment of a pressure set by a ventilation device, in particular a positive and-expiratory pressure and/or a maximum airway pressure, the system comprising a pressure detection arrangement for detecting a transpulmonary pressure at the end of an expiration phase and/or for detecting a transpulmonary pressure at the end of an inspiration phase, and a device for automated adjustment of the pressure set by the ventilation device on the basis of the transpulmonary pressure detected at the end of the expiration phase and/or the transpulmonary pressure detected at the end of the inspiration phase.
DRUG-COATED BALLOON
Described here are devices, systems, and methods for treating conditions or diseases of the nose, ear, or throat with an expandable device having a drug coating. The expandable devices may be delivered to a body cavity in a low-profile configuration and expanded to contact surrounding tissue. The expandable devices may deliver or release the drug coating to the tissue. Multiple expansions of a single device may be employed during treatment. Various coating excipients and manufacturing parameters for the expandable devices may also be adjusted to enhance or slow transfer of the drug coating and/or release of the drug to the target tissue site. The drug transferred to the tissue may act as an in situ depot that enables maintenance of a therapeutic level of locally delivered drug for a desired time period after removal of the expandable devices.
BALLOON DILATION CATHETER
An apparatus for performing a balloon dilation procedure at the site of a stenosis or for deploying a stent in a patient, the apparatus including a single lumen catheter having a proximal end and a distal end, and a high pressure balloon attached to the distal end of the catheter. The high pressure balloon is fabricated from a semi-compliant material that has an average rated burst pressure of between about 15 and about 27 atmospheres of pressure and exhibits a dumbbell-shaped outer periphery when inflated to a first atmospheric pressure and a substantially linear outer periphery when inflated to a second atmospheric pressure.
System for automated adjustment of a pressure set by a ventilation device
The invention suggests a system for automated adjustment of a pressure set by a ventilation device, in particular a positive and-expiratory pressure and/or a maximum airway pressure, the system comprising a pressure detection arrangement for detecting a transpulmonary pressure at the end of an expiration phase and/or for detecting a transpulmonary pressure at the end of an inspiration phase, and a means for automated adjustment of the pressure set by the ventilation device on the basis of the transpulmonary pressure detected at the end of the expiration phase and/or the transpulmonary pressure detected at the end of the inspiration phase.
Pixel array medical systems, devices and methods
A system comprising a handpiece and drive system configured to removably couple to a proximal end of a housing. A scalpet assembly is configured to removeably couple to the housing, and includes a scalpet array comprising at least one scalpet configured for rotation. The scalpet array is configured to harvest dermal plugs via fractional resection. A collection chamber is configured to collect the dermal plugs, and to house formation of an injectable filler by mincing the dermal plugs, and mixing the dermal plugs with a carrier. The injectable filler is configured for bulk fill. The collection chamber includes a loading port, and a cannular syringe is configured to mate with the loading port to receive the injectable filler, and to deliver the injectable filler for the bulk fill.
Drug-coated balloon catheters for body lumens
Various embodiments disclosed relate to drug-coated balloon catheters for treating strictures in body lumens and methods of using the same. A drug-coated balloon catheter for delivering a therapeutic agent to a target site of a body lumen stricture includes an elongated balloon having a main diameter. The balloon catheter includes a coating layer overlying an exterior surface of the balloon. The coating layer includes one or more water-soluble additives and an initial drug load of a therapeutic agent.
A METHOD FOR LOCATING A VACUUM ASSISTED THERAPY DEVICE AND A DEVICE FOR USE IN THE METHOD
There is described a vacuum assisted therapy device (36) for applying a negative pressure to a site in an endoluminal surface in the upper gastrointestinal tract 5 of a patient. In embodiments, the device (36) comprises an absorption element (38) for application of suction to the endoluminal surface via an outer peripheral face (71) of the absorption element. The outer peripheral surface extends between the proximal and distal ends of the absorption element. The device also comprises tubing (40) providing a longitudinal internal lumen for supplying the suction to the absorption element (38), 10 and a coupling fitting (50) is provided on a distal end of the tubing. The coupling fitting is configured for connection in use to an extraction element (60) for drawing of the distal end of the tubing through the nasal cavity of the patient following insertion of the absorption element into the upper gastrointestinal tract of the patient via the patient's mouth. The tubing (40) can provide one or more internal lumens to the 15 absorption element. In embodiments, a coupling (50, 58) formed between the extraction element and the coupling fitting of the device is sized and dimensioned to facilitate the drawing of the tubing through the nose of the patient. Methods for use of the use of the vacuum assisted therapy device (36) are also described. 20
Drug-coated balloon catheters for body lumens
Various embodiments disclosed relate to drug-coated balloon catheters for treating, preventing, or reducing the recurrence of a stricture and/or cancer, or for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), in a non-vascular body lumen and methods of using the same. In some embodiments, the balloon catheter includes a length-control mechanism which stretches and elongates the balloon when it is in a deflated state, giving the balloon a smaller cross-sectional deflated profile for tracking through the body lumen and for removal after treatment.
Bite block device
A bite block to assist with upper Gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy procedures. A main body of the bite block employs a rectangular shaped lumen to provide a large access port for insertion of variety of endoscopes and endoscopy equipment, individually or multiple instruments at the same time, and to guide them more precisely into the esophagus. The main body having a lumen shaped with respect to the anatomy of the oral cavity, where a curvature of the body is designed to act as a tongue depressor preventing airway blockage due to tongue collapse. Assigned channels run along the entire length of the device and are used to secure tubing in place for oxygen and monitor maximal concentration of carbon dioxide.
Agent administering medical device
A medical device comprising an enclosure defining a cavity for containing agent, a lumen for receiving a pressurized gas, and a barrier positioned between the cavity and the lumen, the barrier including at least one opening for storing agent, wherein rotation of the barrier relative to the lumen establishes fluid communication between the at least one opening and the lumen for delivering agent from the at least one opening to the lumen.
