Hydrocortisone acetate suppository formulation for treatment of disease
The present invention relates, in various embodiments, to formulations comprising hydrocortisone and silicon dioxide. In additional embodiments, the invention relates to suppositories comprising hydrocortisone and silicon dioxide. The formulations of the present invention are useful for administration to patients who have gastrointestinal diseases and disorders such as, for example, inflammatory bowel disease.
Multi-purpose balloon catheter for intra cavity radiation delivery
A multi-purpose balloon catheter includes a catheter having a proximal end portion, a central portion and a non-branching distal end portion, a plurality of lumens associated with the catheter extending from the proximal end portion, and a plurality of inflatable balloons positioned in the central portion and/or the non-branching distal end portion. Each of the plurality of inflatable balloons is communicatively associated with a corresponding one of the plurality of lumens, the plurality of inflatable balloons being selectively inflated or deflated to position and stabilize the catheter in a cavity for delivery of a medical treatment. The catheter can include an extraction point associated with a lumen to remove fluids and materials from the cavity, and a connector associated with a corresponding lumen adapted to selectively receive one or more of a fluid medium or a radioactive isotope provided to a corresponding lumen for delivery of the medical treatment.
OBLONG SHAPED MEDICINAL DISPENSER
A medicinal applicator that is defined by a base, a medicinal cream receiving port in the base, and a shaft extending along a shaft axis from the base and terminating at an applicator tip is useful in smearing medicinal cream in a person's colon. There is at least one exit aperture located along a portion of the shaft through which the cream can exit. The medicinal applicator has an unobstructed pathway is in communication with the receiving port and the exit aperture in addition to a stop plate that extends radially from the base delineating the base from the shaft. The shaft's outer shape is defined by an oblong cross section that is uniform along the entire length of the shaft.
SUPPOSITORY APPLICATOR
Disclosed are implementations of a suppository applicator configured for use in depositing a suppository product in a body cavity, such as the rectum. An example suppository applicator comprises a handle connected to a tool head by an elongate shaft, and a disposable applicator removably attached to the tool head. The disposable applicator is configured to contain a suppository product therein. The example suppository applicator is configured so that rotation of the handle causes the suppository product to be expelled from the disposable applicator. Also disclosed are implementations of an enema dispenser. An example apparatus comprises a handle connected to a tool head by an elongate shaft, and a driving mechanism. The tool head includes an enema dispenser comprising a bottle holder, a piston, and a bottle configured to contain an enema liquid. The driving mechanism is configured to cause the piston to compress the bottle of the enema dispenser when actuated, thereby dispensing a volume of liquid contained in the bottle.
SWEAT PAD AND METHODS OF USING SAME
The present disclosure provides devices for preventing or absorbing fluid (e.g., sweat) and/or odors from the intergluteal cleft of a subject. In some embodiments, the present disclosure provides devices for treating or preventing hemorrhoids and methods of using same.
Fluid delivery devices and methods
Methods, systems, and devices are provided for generating a mist. In one embodiment, a fluid delivery device is provided that includes a housing, a fluid vaporizer disposed within the housing and configured to receive fluid and to produce an aerosol mist of liquid particles from the fluid, and a pump configured to accelerate the aerosol mist produced by the fluid vaporizer. Methods are provided for producing a mist, and the methods can include delivering a fluid to a fluid vaporizer that generates a first mist. The fluid vaporizer delivers the mist to a pump that generates a second mist from the first mist.
DEVICE FOR TAMPONADE SEALING PROTECTION OF SURGICAL SUTURES AND WOUNDS, IN PARTICULAR OF END-TO-END ANASTOMOSES OF THE RECTUM
The invention is directed to a device (1) for sealingly protective and at the same time stool-discharging tamponade of a circular anastomosis of two ends of the large intestine, as occur for example in the surgical resection of a rectal carcinoma, wherein a thin-walled balloon body (5) is placed in the region of the anastomosis, and the balloon (5), providing a tamponade, is filled with a filling medium in such a way that the lowest possible pressure necessary for the sealing tamponade of the anastomosed portion of the intestine can be maintained continuously, and, even in the event of a peristaltic contraction of the rectosigmoid colon, the pressure predefined by the user is maintained as constant as possible, wherein sufficiently high volumetric flows of the pressurizing medium supplied to and removed from the balloon (5) are achieved, such that the sealing contact between the balloon (5) and the intestinal wall is maintained in all segments of the balloon body in the course of a peristaltic contraction wave miming from the sigmoid to the anus.
Device and method for aerosolized delivery of substance to a natural orifice of the body
A device for delivering a predetermined amount of a substance within at least one body cavity of a subject, where the predetermined amount is at an effective amount for treatment of obesity or binge eating disorder. The device includes (a) A volume to contain the predetermined amount of the substance. (b) A delivery end placeable in proximity to the body cavity. The delivery end is in fluid communication with the volume and comprises at least one orifice. (c) A valve mechanically connected to the volume, with at least two configurations: (i) an active configuration configured to deliver the predetermined amount of the substance; and, (ii) an inactive configuration, in which the valve prevents delivery of the predetermined amount of the substance. (d) A fluid tight chamber configured to contain a predetermined volume of pressurized gas at a predetermined pressure.
