Wireless access point having metering capability and metering display
The disclosure provides a system and method for metering on a prepaid wireless access point the amount of data transferred between a wireless device and the Internet and inhibiting further data transmission when the amount of prepaid data available reaches or drops below a pre-determined threshold. Specifically, the wireless access point includes a metering client to track one of data usage or an amount of prepaid data available. When the metering client indicates that the amount of data available has dropped below a pre-determined threshold, the wireless access point inhibits further data transmission.
BANDWIDTH THROTTLING IN A RADIO ACCESS NETWORK
Systems, methods, and software of managing bandwidth allocated to User Equipment (UE). In one embodiment, a bandwidth management system collects cell load information for a plurality of cells within a Radio Access Network (RAN), and processes the cell load information to determine a cell load status for each of the cells. The system performs bandwidth throttling for the UE by determining a location of the UE, identifying the cell load status for one or more cells in a region of the RAN corresponding with the location of the UE, determining whether the region of the RAN is overloaded based on the cell load status, and controlling a downgrade of bandwidth allocated to the UE in the RAN responsive to a determination that the region is overloaded.
Making International Mobile Subscriber Identity Available at Base Station
The subject matter described herein generally relates to making an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) available at a base station, such as an evolved node (eNodeB) base station, within a cellular network, for example, a long term evolution communications system. The base station can receive data in response to a data request. The received data can include a header including an international mobile subscriber identifier. The base station can generate a first data for use in performing at least one communication function based on the received international mobile subscriber identifier. The base station can transmit the first data to at least one server communicatively coupled to the base station. Related apparatuses, systems, techniques and articles are also described.
Telecommunications data usage management
Telecommunications data usage management may be provided. A network state associated with a communication network may be identified. Upon determining that the network state is not in compliance with a data usage policy, access to the communication network may be restricted for at least one application.
MANAGING LIVE VIDEO STREAM CONNECTIONS
Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure relate to minimizing data usage over a communication link. A system may include a server configured to receive, via a first connection, a video stream from at least one camera. The server may also be configured to provide, via a second connection, the video stream to a user device. Further, the server may be configured to continue to provide the video stream to the user device via the second connection in response to reception of an indicator indicating that a user of the user device is actively viewing the video stream. Moreover, the server may be configured to cause the video stream from the server to the user device to be terminated in response to lack of receipt of the indicator within a predetermined time interval. Associated methods and systems are also disclosed.
METHOD FOR PERFORMING CHARGING PROCESSING ON GUARANTEED DATA SERVICE, SYSTEM, AND RELATED DEVICE
A charging processing method is provided and includes: obtaining QoS of a guaranteed data service of a user and a guarantee status of the QoS, performing charging processing on charging data of the guaranteed data service based on the information, when the guarantee status of the QoS changes or a guarantee notification switch status of the QoS changes, disabling a counter in a timely manner, and separately processing charging data that exists before the change and charging data that exists after the change. In this way, an operator can accurately perform charging on the guaranteed data service “based on the guarantee status”, to improve user experience. In addition, the operator can obtain revenue corresponding to occupied network resources.
Facilitating collection and display of information related to data usage by a plurality of mobile devices
A method for facilitating collection and display of information related to data usage by a plurality of mobile devices is disclosed. The method involves receiving first quantity information and sending a first identifier associated with the plurality of mobile devices and first activity-related information including the first quantity information to a server. The method also involves receiving group activity-related information associated with the plurality of mobile devices, the group activity-related information derived at least in part from second activity-related information including second quantity information, and producing signals for causing a display to display information derived from the group activity-related information. A method of associating a plurality of mobile devices in a group is also disclosed. Systems and computer-readable media for facilitating collection and display of information related to data usage by a plurality of mobile devices and for associating a plurality of mobile devices in a group are also disclosed.
COMMUNICATION EXCHANGE FOR LOCAL DATA SERVICES
The present invention is directed towards a communication exchange system where an ecosystem of one or more HPMN and VPMN operators that are connected to a gateway/exchange that facilitates local data services for users. These users are roaming in the VPMN over existing roaming relationship between VPMN and their HPMN. The local data services are facilitated by adding an identifier to APN. The communication exchange systems also includes an interface that maintains a bi-directional connection with the gateway to exchange information related to the roaming services, and a bi-directional connection with users via their mobile devices' user interface.
Budgeting and quota management system for data consumption
Systems and methods may provide for establishing a data usage budget based on one or more of user input and historical usage data, wherein the data usage budget distinguishes between usage types and distinguishes between connection types. Additionally, a data usage of one or more client devices may be monitored in accordance with the data usage budget. In one example, the usage types are designated as one or more of a high bandwidth usage and a low bandwidth usage, and the connection types are designated as one or more of a capped connection and a non-capped connection.
METHOD AND APPARATUSES FOR PERFORMING ONLINE CHARGING TO GCS-AS BASED ON RO INTERFACE
An OCS performs online charging to usage of GCS-AS service data in response to an online charging initial request; and the OCS sends a granted service unit and valid time information about a UE to the GCS-AS in response to the online charging initial request, based on an GCS-AS Ro interface. The GCS-AS sends the GCS-AS service data corresponding to the granted service unit, the valid time information, and a corresponding key to the UE. If the GCS-AS service data is based on the EPS bearer, the OCS performs online charging to usage of the GCS-AS service data based on a special rating group. If the GCS-AS service data is based on an MBMS bearer, the OCS charges a content provider for providing the GCS service data.
