An assembly head is used for wrapping a wire harness in an automated manner by means of a winding module. The module has a winding head which rotates about an axis of rotation and, according to a first aspect, has a total of three pressing elements with spring-mounted rollers, which, during the taping process, press a tape against the wire harness and guide the tape in a centering manner. According to a second aspect, a belt drive having a toothed belt is provided for driving the winding head. The toothed belt engages on the circumferential side only in one portion extending over a small angular range.

Method and apparatus for sealing a wiring harness

A method of sealing a wiring-harness includes the steps of: a) dispensing a length of a sealing-tape onto a platform, the sealing-tape having a first-surface and a second-surface opposite the first-surface. b) separating a plurality of wire-cables from a portion of the wiring-harness. c) applying the plurality of wire-cables to a first-half of the first-surface of the sealing-tape. d) folding a second-half of the sealing-tape over the separated plurality of wire-cables such that the second-half overlays the first-half. e) pressing the second-half of the sealing-tape such that the second-half contacts the first-half between the separated plurality of wire-cables, thereby forming a cable-band. f) coiling the cable-band into a generally cylindrical-shaped seal. g) compressing the cylindrical-shaped seal isostatically such that interstitial-voids within the cylindrical-shaped seal are reduced in size. An apparatus for sealing a wiring-harness is also provided.

A roll tape 1 is held by a tip end portion of an arm 3 connected by a pivot shaft 4 fixed to a rotating body 5, and an enlarged diameter curved surface portion 6 is provided that comes into contact with the arm 3 that pivots at a time of rotation. In an angle range in which the arm 3 is in contact with the enlarged diameter curved surface portion 6, the arm 3 is pushed in a rotation outward direction at the time of rotation such that the tape stretched from the roll tape 1 to an object 9 is wound around the object 9 while being pulled out. In an angle range in which the arm 3 is not in contact with the enlarged diameter curved surface portion 6, the tape previously pulled out from the roll tape 1 is wound around the object 9 while being wound up on the object 9. By repeating this alternately, displacement of the object from the rotation axis is suppressed, and proper winding is performed.

CABLE WRAPPING SYSTEM

A cable wrapper has a carriage coupled to a main frame with a plurality of twine compartments coupled to the carriage, each twine compartment comprising a roll of twine. The twine of each twine compartment is fed into the carriage. A plurality of cables are pulled through the carriage and the twine of each twine compartment is secured to the cables. As the cable is then pulled through the carriage, the twine is pulled and, via one or more pulley systems, causes the carriage to rotate. As the carriage rotates, the twine from each twine compartment wraps the cables, ensuring they are secured together their entire length.

Tape Wrapping Device

A tape wrapping device adapted to wind a tape with an adhesive surface and a back surface on a product includes a seat frame, and a tape conveying mechanism installed on the seat frame and adapted to convey the tape to a standby position. The tape conveying system includes a first conveying drum positioned upstream of the standby position along a conveying direction. An outer contour defining an outer peripheral surface of the first conveying drum has a variable outer diameter along an axial direction and is adapted to convey the tape towards the standby position when its outer peripheral surface is in contact with one of the adhesive surface and the back surface of the tape. A binding mechanism is configured to wrap the tape on the product when the product is bonded to the tape at the standby position.
