The system and method of the present disclosure is a stand-alone power generation and production system that obtains, stores, and transfers motive energy by utilizing one or more magnetic devices. Electrical energy is provided from a battery to a motor, mechanical energy is provided from the motor to a generator with the aid of a coupling device, and electrical energy is produced from the generator, which may be routed back to the batteries or to an external load. Any one or more of the motor, coupler, and generator may be a magnetically enhanced device with the use of specially configured permanent magnets to create enhanced magnetic fields. The enhanced magnetic devices increase the power output based on the same power input, and may require less power input to produce the same power output.

The battery comprises a battery element housed between a battery cover and a back plate, wherein the battery element, battery cover, and back plate have a slight curvature or contour. Further, the battery comprises flexible leads.

In this way the freshwater distribution system receives freshwater from the water desalination system.

The cylindrical battery pack includes battery modules, a cylindrical environmental enclosure configured to be filled with an inert gas, and a controller. The battery modules include lithium ion, advanced lithium ion, metal air, lead acid, advanced lead acid batteries, and/or rechargeable alkaline battery cells. The cylindrical environmental enclosure includes dual walls, end caps, and sensors for detecting moisture, pressure, and/or temperature. The environmental enclosure includes electronics configured to control the supply to and from the one or more battery modules.

An integrated kesterite (e.g., CZT(S,Se)) photovoltaic device and battery is provided. In one aspect, a method of forming an integrated photovoltaic device and battery includes: forming a photovoltaic device having a substrate, an electrically conductive layer, an absorber layer, a buffer layer, a transparent front contact, and a metal grid; removing the substrate and the electrically conductive layer from the photovoltaic device to expose a backside surface of the absorber layer; forming at least one back contact on the backside surface of the absorber layer; and integrating the photovoltaic device with a battery, wherein the integrating includes connecting i) a positive contact of the battery with the back contact on the backside surface of the absorber layer and ii) a negative contact of the battery with the metal grid on the transparent front contact. An integrated photovoltaic device and battery is also provided.

Provided herein are systems and methods for storing energy. A photon battery assembly may comprise a light source, phosphorescent material, a photovoltaic cell, and a waveguide. The phosphorescent material can absorb optical energy at a first wavelength from the light source and, after a time delay, emit optical energy at a second wavelength after a time delay. The photovoltaic cell may absorb the optical energy at the second wavelength and generate electrical power. In some instances, a first waveguide may be configured to direct the optical energy at the first wavelength from the light source to the phosphorescent material and/or a second waveguide may be configured to direct the optical energy at the second wavelength from the phosphorescent material to the photovoltaic cell.
