Manufacturing Method for Electric Wire Having Terminal

A manufacturing method for an electric wire having a terminal includes a step of connecting a plurality of core wires by an ultrasonic connection process to form a connected core wire. In the step, the core wires are formed into the connected core wire having a cross-sectional shape having a width and a height in a plane orthogonal to an axis of the connected core wire, the width is not longer than a length obtained by subtracting two times a thickness of the terminal from a width of an arch groove of a crimper of a crimping apparatus in a state that a space between a support surface of an anvil of the crimping apparatus and the arch groove defines a predetermined crimped shape.

Electrical connector with increased conductive paths

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing having a mating cavity and a plurality of power contact pairs. Each power contact pair defines an upper contact set and a lower contact set, each one of the upper contact set and the lower contact set comprises a first contact unit and a second contact unit, each one of the first contact unit and the second contact unit has a retaining portion and at least one contacting portion extending from the retaining portion into the mating cavity. The retaining portions of the upper contact set are arranged in a height direction of the insulative housing with the contacting portions thereof arranged in a transverse direction of the insulative housing, the retaining portions of the lower contact set are arranged in the height direction with the contacting portions thereof arranged in the transverse direction.

WIRE WITH TERMINAL AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR

A method for manufacturing a terminal-attached electric wire including an electric wire including a core wire having plurality of strand wires, and a female terminal including wire barrels crimped around the core wire. The method includes a first step of applying ultrasonic vibrations to the core wire, and a second step of crimping the wire barrels in a region of the core wire to which ultrasonic vibrations have been applied. The first step includes applying ultrasonic vibrations to the core wire while leaving a compression margin for the crimping by the second step such that the resistance between the electric wire and the female terminal is stabilized until the strand wires of the terminal-attached electric wire are severed when the core wire of the terminal-attached electric wire is further compressed after the second step.
