Simplified connector receptacle housings

Structures, methods, and apparatus that provide connector receptacles that have a reduced tendency to scratch and otherwise mar connector inserts, have an aesthetically-pleasing appearance, and have an improved tactile response when inserts are inserted. Various examples reduce scratches and wear by utilizing domes, cylinders, balls, or other structures as finger contacts in a connector receptacle. Another example provides aesthetically-pleasing connector receptacle enclosures by forming receptacle enclosures using the same type of material, or material having the same or similar color or texture, as is used for enclosing the electronic device that includes the receptacle. Another example provides an aesthetically-pleasing receptacle enclosure by forming receptacle enclosures that are, in part or in whole, contiguous or formed with the housing. Another embodiment provides a connector receptacle having a housing where a portion of the housing has been removed to save space.

Anti-vibration locking connector
10598204 · 2020-03-24 · ·

A connector includes a body having gear teeth. A first sleeve is rotatably coupled to the body. A moveable member is positioned in a hole of the first sleeve. A second sleeve is movable with respect to the first sleeve between a locked and unlocked positions. A releasable locking member is positioned between the moveable member and the gear teeth. In the unlocked position of the second sleeve, a recess formed in the second sleeve is aligned with the opening. Upon rotation of the first sleeve, the moveable member is translated into the recess as the releasable locking member travels along the gear teeth. In the locked position of the second sleeve, the recess is rotationally spaced from the opening, and, the releasable locking member is sandwiched between the gear teeth and the moveable member to prevent rotation of the first sleeve with respect to the connector body.

Ball lock type connector with unwanted-removal prevention mechanism

A connector with a lock mechanism includes a connector 10 and a counterpart connector 20. A connector main body 11 of the connector 10 has an annular groove 113. An inner sleeve 17 and an outer sleeve are arranged movably in an axial direction on an outer circumferential surface of the connector main body 11 and outside the inner sleeve 17, respectively. The outer sleeve 13 has a locking pin 15 projecting from an inner circumferential surface close to a front end of the outer sleeve 13. A ball accommodation hole 22, an inlet groove 26, and a circumferential direction groove 28 are formed in a tubular member 21 of the counterpart connector 20. When the connector main body 11 is inserted into the tubular member 21, an engaging ball 23 accommodated in the ball accommodation hole 22 becomes engaged with the annular groove 113 and the locking pin 15 becomes engaged with the inlet groove 26, allowing the connectors to be connected with each other. When the outer sleeve 13 is rotated with respect to the tubular member 21, the locking pin 15 becomes engaged with the circumferential direction groove 28 and restricts the movement of the outer sleeve 13 and the connector main body 11 in the axial direction.

Multipolar connector with circular contacts

Connector comprising a base (1) of substantially cylindrical form and a plug (2), connectable to the base in a removable manner to the base (2), in which are disposed a plurality of contacts (3); the base (1) comprising a conducting face (4) on or in which is disposed at least one conducting track (5) forming at least one arc of a circle whose centre (6) is substantially coincident with the centre of the conducting face (4); said track (5) furthermore being disposed in such a way as to permit a mechanical electrical coupling with one of said contacts (3).

CONNECTING LIGHTING TO POLES WITHOUT TOOLS

A street light has a pole of at least 6 feet in length, and has an electrical socket attached to an end of the pole. The socket includes a body having an interior, and a cover positioned on the body to cover the interior of the body. The cover has a ring-shaped openings providing passage into the interior of the body. Resiliently mounted electrical contactors are each positioned in the interior of the body and adjacent to one of the ring-shaped openings in the cover. A central bore extends through the body, and a ledge is positioned at the end of the bore to extend radially outward. The socket is connectable to a mating plug to mechanically and electrically connect a street light or other device to the pole. The street light can include sensors that are connectable using a similar socket and plug.

MODULAR SMART QUICK CONNECT DEVICE FOR ELECTRICAL FIXTURES
20200018469 · 2020-01-16 ·

A socket and plug are used to connect an electrical fixture with electrical power supply wiring, and for mounting the fixture on a support. The socket has internal cavities with electrically conductive contact terminals which establish an electrical connection between the electrical power supply wiring and the socket. A plug is rigidly fixed to a fixture, and is inserted into the socket. The plug has male connectors electrically connected to the fixture and engageable with the conductive terminals within the socket. A releasable latch is carried on the combination of the plug and the socket for releasably mounting the fixture on the support. A hub surrounds the plug and socket, and houses a plurality of sensor modules releasably connectable to a periphery of the hub. The sensor modules each include an electronic device operative to generate or transmit electronic data.

A quick-connect plug and socket for mechanically and electrically attaching an electrical fixture. The plug has a spindle insertable into a bore of the socket to mechanically engage the plug and socket. An electrical connection forms between ring-shaped conductors on the plug that insert into ring-shaped openings in the socket to engage contacts within the socket. The plug body includes an extension extending from a side of the body to the spindle. The extension has a channel and slot, through which an electrical cord with wires inserts without threading the cord through the extension. The cord turns away from the extension to lie in a channel in the body and extend to a periphery of the body, to then connect to electrical terminals of the body. A removable cover covers the cord in the channel, the terminals, and the portion of wire that passes from the periphery to the terminals.
