Disclosed is a method and a device for checking the quality of a crimping of a specified cable with a specified contact sleeve using a sensor system for measuring a force and a displacement of a device for the actuation and/or force application of a crimping unit and using an electronic analysis system. In the method a force/displacement curve is detected during the crimping process and is displayed on a screen, wherein the method has the following steps: a stored reference model is displayed on the screen together with the detected force/displacement curve, said reference model having a first and a second envelope curve which define a tolerance range;—comparing the force/displacement curve with the reference model, thereby ascertaining whether the force/displacement curve lies in the tolerance range; and—arriving at a conclusion regarding the quality of the crimping from the comparison.
Crimp tool for crimping a prepared wire
A crimp tool calibration system for crimping a prepared wire into a corresponding contact wire barrel includes a computer, a positioner having a memory chip storing positioner data, and a tool frame. The tool frame includes a head having a receiving port therethrough, and configured for the positioner to be removably engaged with the receiving port during a crimping operation. The tool frame also includes a plurality of crimping dies positioned around a periphery of the receiving port, an adjustment device to adjust a crimp depth, and a positioner interface coupled to the tool frame. The positioner interface includes a tool memory for storing tool data, a reader, and a transmitter, where the reader is configured to read the positioner data stored on the memory chip of the positioner, and the transmitter is configured to transmit the positioner data and the tool data to the computer.

A method for monitoring the state of pressing elements of a crimping device of a crimping apparatus includes: setting of a crimping height: measuring of a travel from a rest position to a working position of the pressing elements, which working position corresponds to the set crimping height: comparing of the travel with a travel from the rest position to a working position of the pressing elements of a setting operation of a crimping height, which setting operation was carried out before the setting operation of the crimping height: recording of data, wherein the recorded data comprises at least one result of the comparison; testing of the comparison for the presence of a predefined criterion; and outputting of a signal if the predefined criterion is satisfied.

The electronic processor is configured to receive a first signal from the identifier, determine an accessory type based on the first signal, receive a second signal from the input device, initiate an action based on the second signal, determine an outer diameter of the workpiece, calculate a force applied by the power tool, determine a distance traveled by the accessory during the action, and determine a status of the action based on the force applied to the workpiece and the distance.

A method for aligning a crimper of a first tool relative to an anvil of a second tool in a crimping press, wherein a crimp connection is made by jointly by moving the crimper relative to the anvil in a first direction, includes: moving the crimper relative to the anvil in the first direction until the anvil is partially inside a cavity of the crimper; moving the anvil relative to the crimper in a second direction transverse to the first direction until detecting contact between the anvil and the crimper; moving the anvil relative to the crimper opposite to the second direction until detecting contact between the anvil and the crimper for determining a gap width between the anvil and the crimper; and moving the anvil relative to the crimper in the second direction by a distance which is equal to half of the determined gap width.
Crimping apparatus and system for crimping a flexible printed circuit
A crimping apparatus comprising a press module connected with a pressing mold, a translation module, and a pressure control module is disclosed. The press module generates an action force on the pressing mold through a fluid. The translation module is coupled to the press module for driving the press module to move toward a flexible printed circuit having two isolated circuit layers such that one circuit layer is pressed to crimp to the other circuit layer, wherein the pressure control module adjusts the pressure within the press module to maintain a constant force on the pressing mold whereby the pressing mold can generate a constant stress acting on the flexible printed circuit during the crimping process. In addition, the crimping apparatus can be adapted in a roll-to-roll process for crimping two isolated circuit layers of each flexible printed circuit unit arranged on the roll.

A crimping tool with a housing, a motor, a switch connected to the motor for activating the motor, a pump driven by the motor, a piston driven by the pump, an indenter operably connected to the piston, and a tool head connected to the housing, wherein a workpiece can be disposed between the tool head and the indenter. A current sensor is connected to the motor for sensing current flowing through the motor. A processor receives current data from the current sensor, the processor analyzing the current data to determine completion of a crimping operation and/or an error condition. A display connected to the processor can indicate completion of a crimping operation and/or an error condition.

METHOD TO DETERMINE QUALITY OF TERMINATION OF WIRE USING THERMAL CHARACTERISTICS
A wire terminating apparatus and method which allows for determining the quality of a wire termination. The method includes terminating the wire, monitoring the thermal properties of the termination with one or more thermal sensors and comparing the monitored thermal properties to stored thermal properties to determine if the termination is defective. If the termination is defective, the termination is discarded. The apparatus includes a wire termination zone. A thermal sensor is mounted on the wire terminating apparatus proximate the wire termination zone. The thermal sensor monitors the thermal properties of the termination to determine if the termination is defective.
