METHOD FOR CONTROLLING ON-DEMAND SERVICE PROVISIONING
The disclosure relates to a computer-implemented method for controlling on-demand service provisioning in a network, wherein the network comprises resources for providing a service. In the method, a service request is intercepted. At least one network function, indicated as a first network function, required for the service associated with the service request is determined. Then, the first network function is instantiated on a resource in the network for executing the service in the network.
Capture, recording, and streaming of media content
A method includes receiving user input indicating a selection of a subset of two or more of a plurality of audio layers for media content to be provided to a user, each of the subset of audio layers corresponding to one or more audio sources, receiving second user input indicating volume levels for the two or more audio layers of the plurality of audio layers, capturing, based on the first user input, the two or more audio layers of the plurality of audio layers for a media content item to be provided to the user, and creating an output audio layer for the media content item by mixing the two or more audio layers of the plurality of audio layers without including other audio layers of the plurality of audio layers, the output audio layer reflecting the volume levels indicated by the second user input. The method further includes causing the media content item to be provided to the user using the output audio layer reflecting the indicated volume levels.
Cable TV network broadband access system with distributed deployment and centralized control
The present invention provides a cable TV broadband access system with distributed deployment and centralized control, which comprises: a system terminal end, configured to receive and transmit uplink and downlink service data, and receive and respond to access control data and management control data; a system access end, configured to implement data format transformation and data forwarding or processing for said uplink and downlink service data, said access control data and said management control data of said system terminal end, and transmit, receive and respond to management control data of said system access end; a system head end, configured to implement management control and access control for said system access end and said system terminal end, and process, converge and forward said uplink and downlink service data. Said system uses a system architecture with three-stage distributed deployment and centralized control comprising a system terminal end, a system access end and a system head end, and it can not only realize the end-to-end control management and QoS priority assurance of the broadband data service, but can also realize easy network deployment, low comprehensive cost and high management efficiency.
Managing authenticated user access to public content
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for managing access to public content are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, at a user device, first content transmitted by a first system; in response to receiving the first content, generating, by the user device, a request for second content; transmitting the request for the second content to a second system; determining, by the user device, whether the second content has successfully loaded; and in response to determining that the second content has not been successfully loaded by the user device, executing code included as part of the first content to cause a display of main display content. Other embodiments of this aspect include corresponding systems, apparatus, and computer programs, configured to perform the actions of the methods, encoded on computer storage devices.
Monitoring Network Conditions
A method of identifying a network condition between a pair of network devices, wherein one of the devices comprises a jitter buffer for storing packets received via a network, the method comprising: monitoring a measure of delay in receiving media packets over the network; monitoring a size of the jitter buffer; and identifying a network condition in dependence on a change in the measure of delay and a variation in the size of the jitter buffer.
Systems and methods for playing media assets stored on a digital video recorder while a customer service representative is online
Improved technical functionality is provided to dynamically select and seamlessly play advertisements immediately before playing of a recorded program upon selection of the recorded program for playing, or upon other detected events and conditions associated with the set-top-box (STB) or user. In some embodiments, this is performed by using metadata which may be delivered to and stored on a digital video recorder (DVR) prior to recording the program, providing a technical solution to enable opportunities for additional advertisement impressions. Playing of the advertisement may also or instead occur upon the recorded program finishing playing. Thus, the technical solution provides the additional opportunity for the content creator and/or the satellite television or cable service provider to sell advertising spots in addition to those already sold for breaks within the recorded program.
Hybrid content delivery system
Methods and systems for delivering content are generally described. In an example, a processor may receive a first request from a first device. The first request may be a request for the content. The processor may further send at least a first chunk of content data to the first device. The content data may be associated with the content. The processor may further receive a second request from a second device. The second request may be for the content. The processor may further send an identification of the first device to the second device. The processor may further send an instruction to the second device. The instruction may be effective to establish a communication channel between the first device and the second device in order for a second chunk of the content data to be sent from the first device to the second device through the communication channel.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COMMUNICATION NETWORK QUALITY OF SERVICE CAPABILITY EXPOSURE
A method and system for providing access to Quality of Service levels from within a network to entities outside of the network.
Bandwidth policy management in a self-corrected content delivery network
In one embodiment of a network pipe optimization method, a network element may obtain at least one of a push pipe utilization report and a pull pipe utilization report from each distribution node of the content delivery network. Based on the utilization reports, the network element may determine new push pipe weights and new pull pipe weights for distribution pipes associated with each distribution node of the content delivery network. Using at least one of the new push pipe weights and new pull pipe weights, a network pipe utilization model associated with the content delivery network may be simulated. Responsive to determining that the simulated network pipe utilization model yields an improved utilization of the content delivery network, the new push pipe weights and new pull pipe weights may be distributed to each distribution node in the content delivery network.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEASURING EFFECTIVE CUSTOMER IMPACT OF NETWORK PROBLEMS IN REAL-TIME USING STREAMING ANALYTICS
A system used for identifying issues within a telecom network. Data is obtained from sources including probes and network elements. KPIs are identified for real-time streaming aggregation. Streaming data related to the KPIs is aggregated and an approximation of count-distinct subscribers and volume count is calculated, as well as count-distinct subscribers aggregating by each identified KPI. Drill objects found in the aggregated data are identified based on the calculations and real-time trending records are generated and stored for each drill object using an exponential moving average. Baseline averages are generated based on the real-time trending records. An increase in errors can then be detected based on the baseline averages and additionally aggregated real-time streaming data. Deviations in each drill object contributing to the detected increase in errors are then analyzed and a full case report is generated based on details of the deviations.
