A communication apparatus that communicates with an external apparatus includes a transmission unit that transmits, to the external apparatus via a first relay apparatus, connection information that the external apparatus uses to directly communicate with the communication apparatus and a control unit that controls direct communication with the external apparatus when disconnection of communication with the external apparatus via the first relay apparatus is detected.

A data transmission apparatus having a setting unit to set a data transmission destination and a transmitting unit to transmit data to the set data transmission destination includes receiving, obtaining, and determining units. The receiving unit receives information indicating a country where an apparatus at the set data transmission destination is installed. The obtaining unit obtains information indicating a country where the data transmission apparatus is installed. The determining unit determines whether the country indicated by the information received by the receiving unit and the country indicated by the information obtained by the obtaining unit belong to the same region that includes a plurality of countries. If the determining unit determines that both the countries belong to the same region, the transmitting unit transmits the data, and if both the countries do not belong to the same region, the transmitting unit does not transmit the data.

A function executing device is configured to send a wireless identifier to a communication device via a first type of wireless communication interface for setting up a wireless connection. The function executing device is configured to determine whether the function executing device is in an error state and, if not, to establish the wireless connection via a second type of wireless communication interface. The function executing device operates in a parent state in the wireless connection. Additionally, print data may be received from the communication device. However, if the function executing device is in an error state the wireless connection is not established via the second type of wireless communication interface.

An image forming apparatus including: a wireless communication circuitry configured to make a wireless communication with a portable information processing device including a display unit; and a computer and a memory storing a program causing the computer to execute: a recognition step recognizing a portable information processing device that is within a communicable range through communication via the wireless communication circuitry; a job setting step receiving a job setting; and a job control step receiving a start instruction and executing a job in response to the start instruction, wherein the job setting step receives the job setting, which is made in the portable information processing device, via the wireless communication circuitry after the portable information processing device falls within the communicable range, and the job control step accepts reception from the portable information processing device of an instruction to rearrange the order of the execution of the job among jobs which await their starts.

Embodiments of a fax system with adaptive protocol selection, and methods for such a system, are disclosed herein. Embodiments of a fax system may be adapted to selectively configure the protocol (both the type of protocol or aspects of a particular protocol) used in association with the transmission or reception of a specific fax. The configuration of the protocol utilized can be based on one or more attributes associated with a sender or a destination. The fax can then be transmitted or received according to those configuration parameters.

An information processing apparatus includes plural communication units, a determination unit, and a controller. The plural communication units are configured to be capable of conducting a wireless communication. The determination unit is configured to determine a communication unit from among the plural communication units in accordance with whether a mobile communication terminal that is attempting to conduct a communication is approaching the information processing apparatus. The controller is configured to perform a control so as to start the communication using the communication unit determined by the determination unit.

A communication device including a processor configured to, when executing processor-executable instructions stored in a storage unit, perform determining a first configurable range including setting values stored in the storage unit, acquiring, from an image processing apparatus via a communication unit, a second configurable range including setting values for image processing executable by the image processing apparatus, determining whether the first configurable range is equal to the second configurable range, when determining that the first configurable range is equal to the second configurable range, transmitting an image processing instruction to perform an image processing operation according to the setting values of the first configurable range stored in the storage unit, to the image processing apparatus via the communication unit, and when determining that the first configurable range is different from the second configurable range, restricting transmission of the image processing instruction to the image processing apparatus.

A communication apparatus is equipped with a direct wireless communication function for executing a direct wireless communication with an external apparatus without a relay apparatus. Executed instructions cause the information processing apparatus to perform operations includes specifying a user who logs into the communication apparatus, and executing a direct wireless communication function. An SSID of a plurality of SSIDs including at least an SSID of a first type corresponding to the user who logs into the communication apparatus and an SSID of a second type being different from the SSID of the first type is able to be used in the direct wireless communication function. In a case that the SSID of the first type is used in the direct wireless communication function, an SSID corresponding to the specified user is used in the executed direct wireless communication function.

A transmission apparatus includes a scanner. A first control is performed about reading of a plurality of pages of documents by using the scanner to generate image data. A second control is performed about conversion processing of the generated image data. A third control is performed about transmission of processed data on which the conversion processing is performed. The third control includes starting a session while a document is being read based on the first control, and transmitting, to an external apparatus via a network, the processed data on which conversion is already performed. Where an error occurs in the scanner in reading the documents, the third control further includes disconnecting the started session. Where the error is resolved, the third control further includes connecting the session again and transmitting, to the external apparatus via the network, processed data on which the conversion processing is performed.
