A thin-film coating applicator assembly is disclosed for coating substrates in outdoor applications. The innovative thin-film coating applicator assembly is adapted to apply performance enhancement coatings on installed photovoltaic panels and glass windows in outdoor environments. The coating applicator is adapted to move along a solar panel or glass pane while applicator mechanisms deposit a uniform layer of liquid coating solution to the substrate's surface. The applicator assembly comprises a conveyance means disposed on a frame. Further disclosed are innovative applicator heads that comprise a deformable sponge-like core surrounded by a microporous layer. The structure, when in contact with a substrate surface, deposits a uniform layer of coating solution over a large surface.

A method of manufacture of the solar cell module is also provided. The solar cell module includes a back sheet, a first sealing material layer, a plurality of photoelectric conversion devices that are electrically connected to one another by an electrode material, a second sealing material layer, and a protective glass that are laminated in this order. The second sealing material layer is configured from a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. The first layer is disposed in contact with the protective glass, and formed of a transparent material containing a phosphor. The third layer is disposed in contact with the photoelectric conversion, devices, and formed of a transparent material containing an ultraviolet absorber. The second layer is a transparent material disposed between the first layer and the third layer.

The invention features a hot melt composition in the form of a film including from 40% by weight to 80% by weight of a non-functionalized alkyl acrylate, from 14% by weight to 50% by weight of an olefin polymer, from 2% by weight to 15% by weight of a first functionalized polymer comprising a functional group selected from the group consisting of epoxides and carboxylic anhydrides, and from 2% by weight to 15% by weight of a second functionalized polymer comprising a functional group capable of reacting with the functional group of the first functionalized polymer. The hot melt composition in the form of a film has found utility as an encapsulant for thin film photovoltaic modules.

The composition includes: a thermoplastic polymeric resin and an antistatic agent, the antistatic agent is an amide organic compound represented by Formula (I). The above antistatic agent contains a strong-polarity amide group and an optional polar group. The amide group may form an intramolecular hydrogen bond, which has a shorter bond length, and a dipole electric field generated by positive and negative ions formed after ionization is strong and a voltage generated by an external electrostatic field may be counteracted, such that the antistatic agent has a better antistatic property. The optional polar group may improve the above antistatic property: The thermoplastic polymeric resin has good thermal processability, and after it and the antistatic agent are subjected to melt extrusion, the adhesive film with the better antistatic property and processability may be formed.

The present disclosure provides a photovoltaic module. In an embodiment, the photovoltaic module includes a photovoltaic cell, and a layer composed of a film. The film includes a silane-grafted polyolefin (Si-g-PO) resin composition comprising (i) one or more silane grafted polyolefins and (ii) from greater than 0 wt % to less than 5.0 wt % of a micronized silica gel, based on the total weight of the Si-g-PO resin composition. The film has a glass adhesion greater than or equal to 15 N/mm after aging the film at 40° C. and 0% relative humidity for 60 days as measured in accordance with ASTM F88/88M-09.

A module backplane is attached to the back encapsulant. The module backplane has a flexural rigidity of a plate greater than or equal to 6 Newton meters.

A thermoplastic acrylic resin composition is provided in which translucency properties are suitable for use as a top-sheet member of a photovoltaic cell, warping caused by temperature change is suppressed, and its weathering resistance is excellent; 0.1 to 50 parts by mass of a glass is contained in 100 parts by mass of the thermoplastic acrylic resin; an absolute value of a difference in refractive indices of the thermoplastic acrylic resin and the glass is 0.08 or lower; an average particle size of the glass is 100 to 2,000 μm; a softening temperature of the thermoplastic resin is 80° C. or higher; and the aspect ratio of the glass is 15 or greater. Also, a molded article which is obtained by molding the thermoplastic acrylic resin composition and has a YI value of 20 or lower after weathering-resistance testing. Further, a top-sheet member of a photovoltaic cell is made of the molded article.
