METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING VIDEO SURVEILLANCE IMAGES
20170302977 · 2017-10-19 ·

A method of transmission by a surveillance device to a control room, via a telecommunications network, of a series of images, includes steps, implemented by the surveillance device, of acquisition of a series of images, of coding of the series of images acquired into a series of base video frames including a first quantity of information and into at least one series of enhancement video frames of the series of base video frames, the series of enhancement video frames including a second quantity of information making it possible to enhance the quality of the series of images coded into the series of base video frames, of transmission in real time via the telecommunications network of at least the series of base video frames to the control room, and of storage of at least the series of enhancement video frames.

CONTINUING ELECTRONIC MEDIA ENTERTAINMENT AFTER COMPLETION OF TRAVEL SEGMENT

Continuing electronic media entertainment on a personal electronic device (PED) after completion of a travel segment. Streaming characteristics for streaming of an electronic media item to a PED on board an aircraft via a first connection may be monitored and, if streaming of the remaining portion of the electronic media item will exceed the remaining travel time, trigger some or all of an excess portion of the electronic media item to be sent to the PED. The PED may store the excess potion in an access-controlled media file. After completion of the travel segment (e.g., at the destination location), the PED may resume playback of the electronic media item by obtaining a playback control code via a second, different connection. The second connection may be a different type of connection, or may be an indirect connection, in some cases.

Display system for a vehicle entertainment system

A video display system for a passenger seat of a vehicle. The video display system is configured to be mounted to a seatback of each passenger seat or to other structure such that the system may be utilized by the passenger. The display system includes a video display assembly having a display housing configured to be mounted to structure in the vehicle. A video monitor is housed within the display housing. The video display assembly includes a depending tab portion disposed below the area of the video monitor. The depending tab portion includes a tab display capable of displaying a computer generated graphic and/or information. The display system may also have one or more indicator lights provided adjacent the external edge of the display housing.

A jack provides inflight entertainment to an electronic device. The jack has a connection point for connection to the electronic device. The jack also has a content store adapted to store content for transmission to the electronic device. In use, the electronic device can access the content from the content store of the jack.

Aircraft communications system storing video content while airborne and associated methods

A communications system for an aircraft carrying personal electronic devices (PEDs) for wireless data communications includes a satellite video receiver, wireless local area network (WLAN) circuitry configured to provide a WLAN within the aircraft, and a processor and memory coupled thereto. The processor is configured to store video content from the satellite video receiver in the memory based upon a popularity rating of the video content, and supply stored video content to the PEDs via the WLAN.

Methods and systems for public announcements on a transportation vehicle

Methods and systems for a transportation vehicle are provided. For example, one method includes capturing a video for a public announcement at a transportation vehicle by an authorized device, where metadata of the video identifies the video for public announcement; transmitting the video to a distribution device that recognizes the video as being for public announcement; pausing distribution of any other video; selecting the video for public announcement; and distributing the video for public announcement to user devices at the transportation vehicle.

User defined rules for assigning destinations of content

A media guidance application is provided by which users can define rules for assigning user equipment devices as destinations for media content. For example, a user may define a rule by which selected media content having attributes that satisfy a user-defined condition are downloaded, recorded, or streamed to a particular, user-specified user equipment device. The user may define and manage rules using media guidance menus, and may restrict other users from accessing the rules (e.g., parents restricting children).

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANAGING CONTENT DISTRIBUTION TO AN IN-TRANSIT MEDIA SYSTEM
20170223080 · 2017-08-03 ·

Embodiments relate to methods and systems for managing media content distribution rights to a media client on a craft to ensure that the distribution of media content items is consistent with media content distribution rights.

An encoder encodes moving image data and generates encoded moving image data. A transmission buffer accumulates the encoded moving image data. A transmission/reception unit transmits the encoded moving image data to an image reception device via a wireless communication line. A failure detector predicts whether or not the failure of a real-time transmission of the encoded moving image data occurs, and detects the time until the failure occurs. When the failure is predicted to occur, an encoding controller controls the encoder to decrease, within the detected time, the target bit rate when the encoder encodes the moving image data.

Immutable ledger method and apparatus for managing the distribution of content

A system comprising a plurality of peer caches associated with a corresponding plurality of content owners; shared ledger logic having a channel for each content owner of a plurality of content owners, the shared ledger logic to maintain a shared ledger data structure and to perform the operations of: in response to receipt of a first content title, responsively recording a first ledger entry for the first content title which is visible to a first content owner which owns the first content title; receiving an encryption key from the content owner, wherein the first content title comprises an encrypted content title encrypted with the key; storing the encrypted content title on one or more network storage devices; and when the encrypted content title reaches an edge cache, using the key to decrypt the encrypted content title and updating the first ledger entry to identify the edge cache.
