CINEMATIC MASTERING FOR VIRTUAL REALITY AND AUGMENTED REALITY

An entertainment system provides data to a common screen (e.g., cinema screen) and personal immersive reality devices. For example, a cinematic data distribution server communicates with multiple immersive output devices each configured for providing immersive output (e.g., a virtual reality output) based on a data signal. Each of the multiple immersive output devices is present within eyesight of a common display screen. The server configures the data signal based on digital cinematic master data that includes immersive reality data. The server transmits the data signal to the multiple immersive output devices contemporaneously with each other, and optionally contemporaneously with providing a coordinated audio-video signal for output via the common display screen and shared audio system.

Automated routing based on content metadata

Methods, computer readable media, and devices for automated routing based on content metadata are provided. One method may include receiving a user request for content with metadata from a client by a content distribution network (CDN), parsing the user request for content to generate an evaluation of the metadata, determining a routing decision representing a selection of one of a plurality of origin services for the user request for content based on the evaluation of the metadata, transmitting the user request for content to the selected one of the plurality of origin services based on the routing decision, receiving a response to the user request for content from the selected one of the plurality of origin services, and sending the response to the client.

Dynamic media data management

A system for managing media content data sets loaded onto a content server has a media content repository storing media content data items. A usage data aggregator retrieves usage log data from each passenger terminal device of the vehicle entertainment system. A load set generator builds a ranked media content data set based upon prioritization scores assigned to each of the media content data items with adaptive inferences from the usage log data. The prioritization scores are correlated with trip factors established for a subsequent vehicle trip for which the ranked media content data set is being built. A content retriever transfers the one or more media content data items specified in the ranked media content data from the media content repository.

Connected-media end user experience using an overlay network

An Internet infrastructure delivery platform (e.g., operated by a service provider) provides an overlay network (a server infrastructure) that is used to facilitate “second screen” end user media experiences. In this approach, first media content, which is typically either live on-demand, is being rendered on a first content device (e.g., a television, Blu-Ray disk or another source). That first media content may be delivered by servers in the overlay network. One or multiple end user second content devices are then adapted to be associated with the first content source, preferably, via the overlay network, to facilitate second screen end user experiences (on the second content devices).

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR PACKETIZED DATA MANAGEMENT AND DELIVERY IN A DIGITAL CONTENT DISTRIBUTION NETWORK
20230359607 · 2023-11-09 ·

Apparatus and methods for managing provision of digital content within a content distribution network. In one embodiment, a content application manager (CAM) process is used to provide one or more centralized redirection functions for network client processes such as just-in-time (JIT) packagers and cloud digital video recorders (cDVRs). A local database accessible to the CAM is updated with “live” or other content storage locations within the network, and accordingly each of the client processes can be made simpler and not require any intrinsic knowledge of content asset storage locations. This simplifies the client process configuration, enhances performance in terms of reduced end-user request servicing latency, and allows for single-point automated database updates versus having to provide updates to each client process as under the prior art.

Content recommendation system and method

The method may include providing one or more content item recommendations by opening a content recommendation session for a selected user, retrieving some user data for the selected user from a first storage resource, obtaining content information concerning content available from content sources, using the user data and the content information to generate a content item recommendation for the user and providing the content item recommendation to the user. The user data for the selected user may be stored at contiguous physical locations at the first storage resource.

Content delivery system, delivery server, receiving terminal, and content delivery method

A transmitting terminal can transmit a content held by itself to a specific receiving terminal having no email software as if using a mailer. The transmitting terminal (10) and the receiving terminal (20) are connected to a delivery server (30) via a network (4). The delivery server (30) comprises: a database (36) for registering the device ID that specifies the receiving terminal (20); a content storage (39) for temporarily storing a content transmitted from the transmitting terminal (10); and table (33, 37) for managing contents separately on a per device ID basis of the receiving terminal. The delivery server (30), when receiving a request from the receiving terminal (20), refers to the tables (33, 27) and transmits to the receiving terminal (20) a content, the transmission destination of which corresponds to the device ID of the receiving terminal (20).
