Methods and systems configured to manage video transcoder latencies
11509946 · 2022-11-22 · ·

Systems and methods configured to detect and manage video transcoder latencies are described. A manifest is received and is used to request video segments included in a manifest playlist. A transcoder having an input and output is used to transcode video segments. A delta time for a first SCTE-35 marker between the transcoder input and the transcoder output is determined, where the delta time corresponds to a transcoder latency. A determination is made as to whether a corrective action needs to be taken with respect to the latency, and such corrective action is taken as needed. The corrective action may include a transcoder reset. The manifest may be a text file and may be in the form of an HLS or DASH manifest. Additionally, streaming latencies may be reduced by switching content distribution systems, increasing the number of edge systems distributing content to clients, and/or by increasing video cache memory.

INTER-AREA MEDIA SERVICE SWITCHING METHOD, SERVER, SYSTEM, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Provided are an inter-area media service switching method, a server, a system and a storage medium. A first MEC-CDN node acquires mobile information about a user device from a core network, where the user device establishes a connection with the first MEC-CDN node, and acquires a media service from the first MEC-CDN node; in response to determining, according to the mobile information, that the user device is pre-moved out of a coverage range of the first MEC-CDN node, the first MEC-CDN node determines a second MEC-CDN node and/or a second MEC platform to which the second MEC-CDN node is attached, and establishes a connection with the second MEC-CDN node; the first MEC-CDN node migrates state information about the user device onto the second MEC-CDN node; and in response to determining that the user device enters a coverage area of the second MEC-CDN node, the second MEC-CDN node establishes a connection with the user device, so that the user device acquires the media service from the second MEC-CDN node.

Verifying presentation of video content

The serving of advertisements with (e.g., on) video documents may be improved in a number of ways. For example, a system may (a) accept information defining at least one ad spot associated with at least one instance of an video document, (b) accept offers to have advertisements served in the ad spot(s), and (c) arbitrate among competing advertisements, using at least the offers, to determine at least one advertisement to be served in that ad spot(s). As another example, a system may (a) accept relevance information for an advertisement, (b) determine at least one video document using the accepted relevance information, (c) present information about the video document(s) to an advertiser associated with the advertisement, and (d) accept, from the advertiser, an offer to have its advertisement served with at least one of the video document(s) accepted. As yet another example, a system may (a) accept relevance information for an video document, (b) determine a plurality of advertisements relevant to the video document using the relevance information and serving constraints of the advertisements, and (c) select at least one of the determined relevant advertisements to be served with the video document. Examples of video documents include video files published on the Internet, television programs, live or recorded talk shows, video-voice mail, segments of an video conversation, etc.

Method of playing video, computing device, and computer program product

A method of playing video is provided. The method includes: obtaining a video loading instruction and sending a loading request to a cache server, wherein the loading request is configured to request loading data, and the loading data includes at least one segment of the video corresponding to the video loading instruction; receiving the loading data from the cache server; and playing the at least one segment according to the loading data.

Video file storage prediction process for caches in video servers
11496809 · 2022-11-08 · ·

In some embodiments, a method receives a first set of video files at a node that delivers video files to client devices and receives a second set of video files. The second set of video files are predicted to be delivered by the node to a client device during a time period. The node receives a request for a video file from a client device and determines whether the video file is stored in the first set of video files and the second set of video files. When the video file is stored at the node, the node sends the video file from the first set of video files and the second set of video files. When the video file is not stored in the first set of video files and the second set of video files, the node sends a request for the video file to another node.

LIVE ROOM SETUP METHOD AND APPARATUS, ELECTRONIC DEVICE, AND STORAGE MEDIUM
20230098060 · 2023-03-30 ·

Provided are a method and an apparatus for creating a live room, an electronic device, and a storage medium. The method for creating a live room includes: receiving a trigger instruction of a preset creation identifier; acquiring, according to the trigger instruction, live information associated with the preset creation identifier; and sending the live information to a server such that the server creates a target live room based on the live information.

Methods and systems for streaming content on a transportation vehicle

Methods and systems are provided for a transportation vehicle. One method includes caching, by a ground-based caching device, media content provided by a streaming service; pre-fetching, by a server on an aircraft, a subset of the cached media content that is likely to be viewed by passengers on the aircraft, the pre-fetched content stored in a cache on the aircraft; presenting, by a first device on the aircraft, a first subset of the pre-fetched content to a non-subscriber of the media content on a first flight; presenting, by a second device on the aircraft, a second subset of the pre-fetched content to a subscriber of the media content on the first flight; and storing, by the second device, viewing history of the second subset by the subscriber.

Automatically serving different versions of content responsive to client device rendering errors

In some embodiments, a system is provided, and computer-executable instructions cause the system to: obtain, at an edge server of a content delivery network, a request for a content item from a client device; determine that the there are multiple versions of the first content item that require varying amount of resources to serve including a first version, and a second version requiring more resources to serve than the first version; select the second version; send the second version; determine that the client device is not properly rendering the second version of the content item; and in response to determining that that the client device is not properly rendering the second version, send the first version.

Packet processing of streaming content in a communications network

Aspects of present disclosure include devices within a transmission path of streamed content forwarding received data packets of the stream to the next device or “hop” in the path prior to buffering the data packet at the device. In this method, typical buffering of the data stream may therefore occur at the destination device for presentation at a consuming device, while the devices along the transmission path may transmit a received packet before buffering. Further, devices along the path may also buffer the content stream after forwarding to fill subsequent requests for dropped data packets of the content stream. Also, in response to receiving the request for the content stream, a device may first transmit a portion of the contents of the gateway buffer to the requesting device to fill a respective buffer at the receiving device.
