Systems and methods for providing and updating live-streaming online content in an interactive web platform

Systems and methods are disclosed for providing live-streaming online content, including video segments married with related online information in a single online platform. In accordance with one implementation, a method is provided that includes generating, using at least one processor, a series of videos having a sequential order to display in a web browser and publishing the videos in the web browser. The method further includes determining online data that relates to each video in the series and displaying the related data in the web browser. Further, the method includes playing the videos in the web browser in a sequential order and updating the data that relates to a video while the video is playing in real-time. The related data may include user comments, social media comments, pictures, videos, webpages, or hyperlinks.

PRESENTING MEDIA ITEMS ON A PLAYING DEVICE

In general, in an aspect, versions of representations of segments of a media item are received and temporarily stored on a media playing device. The segments have a sequence. The temporarily stored versions are used in sequence to present at least part of the media item to a user. One or more other versions of representations of segments of the media item are also received and persistently stored on the media playing device. The one or more persistently stored other versions are used to enhance the presentation of at least part of the media item to the user.

Systems and methods for IP-based asset package distribution for provisioning targeted advertisements
11553257 · 2023-01-10 · ·

Embodiments are related to faster provisioning of targeted advertisements at a set-top box (STB) via an Internet Protocol (IP) connection between the STB and a remote server. The disclosed IP-based advertisement distribution system enables targeted advertisements to be pulled from the remote server efficiently, causing the advertisements to be made available within a short time frame (e.g., less than one day from the time when the advertisements are available). The disclosed methods enables a STB to determine whether to retain existing targeted advertisements, discard them, or provision newly-available advertisements. The targeted advertisements can depend on various factors such as demographic information of an owner of the STB, lifestyle information of the owner of the STB, etc.

Just after broadcast media content

Methods and apparatus are described for making broadcast content available as an on-demand asset soon after all of the video fragments of the broadcast content have been made available. As the video fragments of the broadcast content are made available, they are requested and archived. When all of the fragments for the duration of the broadcast content are available (e.g., a live event ends), a VOD-style manifest is generated and the archived fragments are made available for downloading or streaming using the VOD-style manifest.

Providing and Using a Branching Narrative Content Service
20230217086 · 2023-07-06 · ·

Providing and using a branching narrative content service can include receiving from a user device a request for branching narrative content including a first segment. A live manifest can be generated with time metadata, a first content segment identifier that identifies a first content segment of the first segment, and a second content segment identifier that identifies a second content segment of the first segment. The live manifest can be provided to the user device, the user device obtaining the first content segment and the second content segment using the content segment identifiers. The user device obtains a selection of a branch while the first segment is being played and an updated live manifest is generated with updated time metadata and a third content segment identifier. The user device obtains the third content segment using the third content segment identifier and plays the second segment at the user device.

Power aware adaptation for video streaming

Power aware adaptation for a power aware video streaming system may be based on the complexity information conveyed in different ways. A complexity level of a data stream, such as a video data stream, may be selected as a function of a remaining battery power of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and on a state set of a plurality of state sets that may be stored and/or managed by the WTRU. These state sets may correspond to, for example, different content sources and/or different complexity estimation algorithms and may be used to select the complexity level of the data stream. The data stream may then be received at the selected complexity level. The complexity level and/or a bitrate of the data stream may be adapted to accommodate, for example, the remaining battery power and/or other circumstances. The adaptation may be customized according to the objectives of use cases.

System and method for creating and organizing content

The present invention is directed to a content creation system comprising one or more client devices, one or more servers including a database for storing information related to a plurality of items to be displayed and sold during a show, identification information associated with the plurality of items, a quantity of the plurality of items in stock in a warehouse, a plurality of audio segments, and a plurality of video segments, and a program creation unit for processing the information received from the database and for creating the show for subsequent broadcast, the show having a plurality of plays. The system also includes a network coupled to the one or more client devices and the one or more servers for allowing the one or more client devices to communicate with the one or more servers.

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF SERVER-SIDE DYNAMIC SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL ADAPTATIONS FOR MEDIA PROCESSING AND STREAMING
20230007314 · 2023-01-05 · ·

The techniques described herein relate to methods, apparatus, and computer readable media configured to provide video data for immersive media implemented by a server in communication with a client device. A request to access a stream of media data associated with immersive content at a point in time the client is first accessing the stream of media data for the immersive content is received from the client device. An initial portion of media data is determined, starting from the point in time the client requests to access, for the immersive content for delivery to the client device. In response to the request to access the stream of media data, the initial portion of media data is transmitted to the client device.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF PRESENTING VIDEO OVERLAYS

Systems and methods are provided for relocating an overlay overlapping information in content. The systems and methods may comprise receiving a content item, the content item comprising a video image, and determining a first screen position of an information box (e.g., a score box) in the video image. Determining may be performed with image analysis and/or a machine learning model. The system receives an overlay image (e.g., a channel logo) with a second screen position and determines if the second screen position (e.g., for the logo) overlaps the first screen position (e.g., for the score). In response to determining the second screen position (e.g., of the logo) overlaps the first screen position (e.g., the score), the system modifies the second screen position (e.g., for the logo). Then the system generates for display the overlay image on the video in the modified screen position. The system may not relocate the overlay if the overlay is a high priority.
