URSP PROCEDURE ENHANCEMENT FOR REDUNDANT PDU SESSION
20230100822 · 2023-03-30 ·

A method for route selection policy (URSP) rule matching supporting redundant PDU session is proposed. When an application is executed, the upper layer of a UE sends the application information to URSP entity for matching a URSP rule. The UE selects and evaluates a route selection descriptor (RSD) from a list of RSDs of a selected URSP rule to be matched with a PDU session. If there is a “PDU session pair ID type” or “RSN type” route selection descriptor component in an RSD, and there is also “multi-access preference type” descriptor component, or a “preferred access type” descriptor component set to “non-3GPP access” in the same RSD, UE ignores the RSD since it is invalid for a redundant PDU session.

DNN Manipulation Using Selection Priority

A method implemented by a Policy Control Function (PCF) of a Core Network (CN) node in a communications network includes receiving a request message from an Access and Mobility management Function (AMF). The request message includes a requested Data Network Name (DNN) designated by a wireless terminal in a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session establishment request to the AMF. Responsive to the request message and to session-specific information, a selected DNN and a Session Management Function (SMF) index is determined. Each of one or more SMFs are registered with a Network Repository Function (NRF) of the CN node or a different CN node according to a corresponding SMF profile. The selected DNN and the SMF index are sent to the AMF to facilitate selection of one of the one or more SMFs via the NRF for establishment of the PDU session between the wireless terminal and the selected SMF.

System and method for encoding of local bandwidth conditions into tunneling message

A method, a system, and a non-transitory storage medium provide for encoding a general packet radio service (GPRS)-tunnel endpoint identifier (GTP-TEID) with data identifying radio frequency (RF) bandwidths supported in a local radio environment (LRE) from which a user equipment (UE) device accesses the wireless access station; sending, via a signaling channel, the GTP-TEID to a core network device; notifying one or more core network devices of an RF bandwidth category level corresponding to the identified RF bandwidths; and applying at least one of a policy rule or a charging rule to a packet data unit (PDU) session for the UE device, based on the RF bandwidth category level.

In a traffic control method, a PCF obtains an actual data rate of a target network area in a target network slice, where the actual data rate indicates a sum of data rates occupied by all sessions that have accessed the target network area in the network slice. The PCF then determines an authorized data rate of a first session based on an upper data rate limit and the actual data rate of the target network area, where the authorized data rate indicates a maximum flow bit rate allowed for the first session; and send the authorized data rate to a control network element of the first session.

POLICY ENFORCEMENT ACROSS WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORKS OVER APPLICATION FUNCTIONS

A wireless communication network delivers policy enforcement to a wireless user device in another wireless communication network. The wireless communication network wirelessly serves the wireless user device based on a policy. The wireless communication network determines when the wireless user device is visiting the other wireless communication network, and in response, selects the policy for the wireless user device. The wireless communication network transfers the selected policy for the wireless user device to the other wireless communication network. The other wireless communication network receives and enforces the selected policy for the wireless user device.

ADAPTIVE THROUGHPUT FOR USER EQUIPMENT COMMUNICATING VIA A MANAGED WI-FI SERVICE NETWORK
20230164618 · 2023-05-25 ·

A managed Wi-Fi service network device can receive, from a cellular network device, an allowable throughput rate at which a user equipment is authorized to communicate via a managed Wi-Fi service network. Based on the allowable throughput rate, the managed Wi-Fi service network device can monitor a communication rate of the user equipment via the managed Wi-Fi service network. In response to the user equipment communicating via the managed Wi-Fi service network at a rate that exceeds the allowable throughput rate, the managed Wi-Fi service network device can facilitate reducing the communication rate of the user equipment. Also, a user equipment can receive from a cellular network device an allowable throughput rate at which the user equipment is authorized to communicate via the managed Wi-Fi service network. The UE can communicate via the managed Wi-Fi service network at a communication rate that does not exceed the allowable throughput rate.
