Hand-held neuroscreening device
A hand-held neuroscreening device includes an elongate handle having a first end, a second end, and longitudinal axis extending therethrough between the first end and the second end. A head portion is fixedly attached to the first end of the handle. The head portion has a longitudinal axis, a fixed temperature surface extending in a first plane oblique to the head portion longitudinal axis, and a variable temperature surface extending in a second plane oblique to the first plane. A method of using the device is also disclosed.
AUTOMATIC TREATMENT OF PAIN
Disclosed are methods and medical device systems for automated delivery of therapies for pain and determination of need for and safety of treatment. In one embodiment, such a medical device system may comprise a sensor configured to sense at least one body signal from a patient; and a medical device configured to receive a first sensed body signal from the sensor; determine a patient pain index based at least in part on said first sensed body signal; determine whether said patient pain index is above at least a first pain index threshold; determine a safety index based at least in part on a second sensed body signal; select a pain treatment regimen based on at least one of said safety index and or a determination that said pain index is above said first pain index threshold; and deliver said pain treatment regimen.
THERMAL TOOTH TESTING DEVICES, METHODS AND KITS
The disclosed devices relate to disposable self-loading absorbent-tipped thermal tooth testing instruments. The instrument utilizes the expansion of dental refrigerant to saturate a cotton-tipped applicator which is permanently attached to one end of the tester into which the opposite end conveniently fits into a spray nozzle of any currently commercially available dental refrigerant can.
Cognitive function determination method
A cognitive function determination method includes applying a load including a sensory stimulus (5a) or tasks with different degrees of difficulty a plurality of times (S1), measuring a change in brain activity of a subject (P) when the load is applied and acquiring measurement data (S2), and determining a degree of cognitive function of the subject (P) (S3).
Method, apparatus and system for automatic treatment of pain
We disclose methods and medical device systems for automated delivery of therapies for pain and determination of need for and safety of treatment.
CONFIGURABLE SYSTEM FOR EVALUATING STIMULUS SENSITIVITY OF A SUBECT AND METHOD OF USE THEREFOR
A configurable system is used to evaluate stimulus sensitivity of a subject. An action channel provides a stimulus to the subject and a reaction channel receives a response from the subject. A signal pathway is connected to the action channel and to the reaction channel. A controller establishes loops within the signal pathway. Loop types include a transduction loop including the action channel and forming a path terminating in the signal pathway, and a channel loop including the action channel and terminating at a reference unit. Other possible loop types include an interface loop including the action channel, the reaction channel and the reference unit having an initial parameter value, and an adaptive loop including the action channel, the reaction channel and the reference unit whose parameter value is adapted based on the response from the subject. A method using the system is also described.
Appendage mountable electronic devices conformable to surfaces
Disclosed are appendage mountable electronic systems and related methods for covering and conforming to an appendage surface. A flexible or stretchable substrate has an inner surface for receiving an appendage, including an appendage having a curved surface, and an opposed outer surface that is accessible to external surfaces. A stretchable or flexible electronic device is supported by the substrate inner and/or outer surface, depending on the application of interest. The electronic device in combination with the substrate provides a net bending stiffness to facilitate conformal contact between the inner surface and a surface of the appendage provided within the enclosure. In an aspect, the system is capable of surface flipping without adversely impacting electronic device functionality, such as electronic devices comprising arrays of sensors, actuators, or both sensors and actuators.
Stimulus providing device, perception training method, and computer program
The inventive concept relates to a stimulus providing device that provides training stimuli for improving pain of a pain patient, a perception training method, and a computer program. The stimulus providing device for providing a training stimulus for improving pain includes one or more mounting units mounted on body portions of a user, and one or more stimulus providing units disposed in the mounting units and which provides stimuli to the body portions, the stimulus providing units are controlled by a control unit included in the stimulus providing device or a control unit physically separated from the stimulus providing device to interwork with the stimulus providing device and included in a terminal of the user, and the control unit controls at least one of a location, a range, and an intensity of the stimuli.
System, method, and computer program for providing training for pain improvement
The inventive concept refers to a system, a method, and a computer program for providing training for pain improvement. According to an exemplary embodiment, a training providing method for pain improvement includes requesting, by a computer, a temperature providing device to provide a first temperature to a first body point, requesting, by the computer, the temperature providing device to provide a second temperature to a second body point, requesting a user to select a temperature matched with a specific condition among the first temperature and the second temperature, and calculating a correct answer rate after performing a trial of distinguishing between the first temperature and the second temperature by a predetermined number.
Apparatus and method for using a portable thermal device to quantify pain perception
A portable heat stimulation device that can generate a heat stimulus and deliver the heat stimulus to a patient in a manner that may be useful in quantifying the patient's perception of pain.
