This document describes methods, devices, systems, and means for beam failure recovery for wireless communication in an active coordination set (ACS) by a user equipment (UE) in which the UE receives a beam-failure-recovery (BFR) Random Access Channel (RACH) configuration including multiple candidate beam configurations, each candidate beam configuration comprising a candidate BFR sub-beam configuration for each base station in the ACS. The UE detects a beam failure with the ACS and determines a respective link-quality metric for each of the received candidate beam configurations in the BFR RACH configuration. Based on the determined link-quality metrics, the UE selects a candidate beam to use for the wireless communication, and transmits a RACH message that includes an indication of the selected candidate beam, the transmitting being effective to direct the base stations in the ACS to use the selected candidate beam for the wireless communication.

Beam failure recovery method and device, and terminal device

The present disclosure provides a beam failure recovery method, a beam failure recovery device and a terminal device. The beam failure recovery method includes: judging whether it is necessary to delay initiating a BFR procedure when a beam failure occurs for the terminal device in a DRX inactive state; directly initiating, by the terminal device, the BFR procedure when it is unnecessary to delay initiating the BFR procedure; and determining an initiation time point for the BFR procedure when it is necessary to delay initiating the BFR procedure, and initiating the BFR procedure at the initiation time point.

An apparatus, method and computer program is described comprising: receiving, at a user device, a downlink reference signal from a communication node of a mobile communication system, wherein the downlink reference signal is received by one of a plurality of beams of a receiver of the user device in accordance with a configured beam alignment; determining whether to initiate beam switching to reconfigure the beam alignment at said receiver based, at least in part, on a signal power of the received downlink reference signal; and determining, in the event that beam switching is to be initiated, whether to initiate communication node assisted beam switching or non-communication node assisted beam switching.
