A system for remote editing of a file includes a database including a plurality of source media content files and a content host configured to generate a first proxy for at least a portion of a first one of the source media content files, the first proxy including data sufficient to enable a remote user device to identify a portion of content of the first source media content file to be included in a generated clip, the content host configured to receive from the remote user device a request to create the generated clip from the first source media content file, the request indicating parameters defining, based on the data in the first proxy, the portion of the first source media content file to be included in the generated clip, the content host configured to create the generated clip based on the parameters indicated in the request.

Systems and methods for real-time adaptive bitrate transcoding and transmission of transcoded media

Methods and systems are provided for streaming a media asset with an adaptive bitrate transcoder. A server receives, from a client device, a first request for a first portion of the plurality of portions to be transcoded at a first bitrate. The server then starts to transcode the plurality of portions at the requested first bitrate to generate a plurality of corresponding transcoded portions. The server updates a header of a transcoded portion to include: 1) a transcode latency value; and 2) a count value indicating a number of available pre-transcoded portions of the media asset at the time the first request was received. The server then transmits the transcoded portion to the client. The client device then determines a second bitrate based on the transcode latency value included in the header of the transcoded portion corresponding to the first portion.

Methods and systems configured to manage video transcoder latencies
11509946 · 2022-11-22 · ·

Systems and methods configured to detect and manage video transcoder latencies are described. A manifest is received and is used to request video segments included in a manifest playlist. A transcoder having an input and output is used to transcode video segments. A delta time for a first SCTE-35 marker between the transcoder input and the transcoder output is determined, where the delta time corresponds to a transcoder latency. A determination is made as to whether a corrective action needs to be taken with respect to the latency, and such corrective action is taken as needed. The corrective action may include a transcoder reset. The manifest may be a text file and may be in the form of an HLS or DASH manifest. Additionally, streaming latencies may be reduced by switching content distribution systems, increasing the number of edge systems distributing content to clients, and/or by increasing video cache memory.

OPTIMAL FORMAT SELECTION FOR VIDEO PLAYERS BASED ON PREDICTED VISUAL QUALITY USING MACHINE LEARNING
20230054130 · 2023-02-23 ·

A system and methods are disclosed for optimal format selection for video players based on visual quality. The method includes generating a plurality of reference transcoded versions of a reference video, obtaining quality scores for frames of the plurality of reference transcoded versions of the reference video, generating a first training input comprising a set of color attributes, spatial attributes, and temporal attributes of the frames of the reference video, and generating a first target output for the first training input, wherein the first target output comprises the quality scores for the frames of the plurality of reference transcoded versions of the reference video. The method further includes providing the training data to train a machine learning model on (i) a set of training inputs comprising the first training input and (ii) a set of target outputs comprising the first target output.

Movie advertising playback systems and methods

An ad in a movie can be a static ad having a position in the movie that cannot be moved, or a dynamic ad having a position in the movie that can be changed. When a viewer wishes to skip a portion of the movie containing the ad, the playback system determines whether the ad is static or dynamic. If the ad is static, only the portion of the movie preceding the static ad can be skipped; the ad is unskippable. This technique is referred to as “bounceback” since the end of the skip bounces back to the start of the static ad. If the ad is dynamic, it is moved to after the end of the skip. This technique is referred to as “slip-ad” since the ad slips to later in the movie. When a movie has multiple ads, some can be static and some can be dynamic.

Methods and apparatus for using track derivations to generate new tracks for network based media processing applications

The techniques described herein relate to methods, apparatus, and computer readable media configured to perform media processing tasks. A media processing entity includes a processor in communication with a memory, wherein the memory stores computer-readable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform receiving, from a remote computing device, multi-view multimedia data comprising a hierarchical track structure comprising at least a first track comprising first media data at a first level of the hierarchical track structure, and a second track comprising task instruction data at a second level in the hierarchical track structure that is different than the first level of the first track. The instructions further cause the processor to perform processing the first media data of the first track based on the task instruction data of the second track to generate modified media data and an output track that includes the modified media data.
