Systems and Methods for Defining Ad Spaces in Video
20230072901 · 2023-03-09 ·

Computer-implemented systems and methods are provided for defining ad space in a video. For example, a computer can receive an identification of a video and an advertisement space definition that includes a time stamp for the advertisement space in the video and an advertisement length. The computer can receive a request to view the video. The computer can determine an advertisement to play in the advertisement space such that the advertisement is not longer than the advertisement length included in the video's advertisement space definition. The computer can provide access to the video, and when the video reaches the time stamp, the advertisement is played in the advertisement space.

Content summaries for upcoming media assets

Systems and methods are disclosed to provide one or more content summaries for one or more media assets, wherein it is determined that consumption associated with a profile of a media asset will begin at a first time and at a second time that is a period of time prior to the first time, it is caused to be provided one or more content summaries for the one or more media assets, wherein the one or more content summaries are selected based at least on a duration of the content summary, such that a duration of the content summary is not greater than the period of time.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR STORING OFFSETS OF A RECORDED PROGRAM IN A NETWORK DVR

Systems and methods are described to address shortcomings in the conventional network storage systems via novel techniques to store offsets of a recorded program in a network digital video recorder (DVR). Storing offsets of a recorded program may be beneficial to users that would like to record media content that is broadcast either prior to a start time of a program, or media content that is broadcast after an end time of a program. This feature may be useful when start times and end times of a program are variable (e.g., in the case of sporting events, or other real-time events). This feature may also be useful for recording content of interest that is scheduled for broadcast prior to a start time of or after an end time of the program.

APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING DYNAMIC MULTI-MODE SERVICE AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING THE SAME

Disclosed are a dynamic multi-mode service (MMS) transmission apparatus, a dynamic MMS reception apparatus, and a method for providing a dynamic MMS. The method includes generating, by the dynamic MMS transmission apparatus, signaling information including information about linkage between service channels based on broadcast schedule information about a broadcast service; transmitting, by the dynamic MMS transmission apparatus, the signaling information and the broadcast service to the dynamic MMS reception apparatus through at least one of a broadcast network and a broadband network; receiving, by the dynamic MMS reception apparatus, the signaling information and the broadcast service; interpreting, by the dynamic MMS reception apparatus, the information about the linkage between service channels, included in the signaling information, by decoding the signaling information; and providing, by the dynamic MMS reception apparatus, the broadcast service by performing dynamic channel switching based on the information about the linkage between service channels.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO FACILITATE QUALITY CONTROL OF BENEFIT ITEMS CREATED FOR SUBSCRIBERS OF A MEMBERSHIP PLATFORM
20220377399 · 2022-11-24 ·

Systems and methods to facilitate quality control of benefit items created for subscribers of a membership platform are described herein. Exemplary implementations may: obtain subscribership information; obtain quality control information; effectuate presentation of a reward fulfillment user interface; obtain input information; calculate levels of quality of digital assets; determine sets of subscribership criteria that correspond to the calculated levels of quality; authorize fulfillment of physical benefit items; and/or perform other operations.

System for enabling a virtual theater

The disclosed virtual theater system includes capture devices for capturing video and audio of a live event and converting the video and audio into a data stream. The system also includes a production center for receiving the data stream and compressing the data stream to generate a compressed data stream, for determining the number of one or more viewing devices subscribed or reserved to view the live event, and for determining data bandwidth consumption characteristics of the one or more viewing devices. Also included is a server for receiving the compressed data stream, the number of one or more viewing devices, and the data bandwidth consumption characteristics from the production center over a network. The server also duplicates and divides the compressed data stream out to the one or more viewing devices depending on the number of viewing devices subscribed or reserved (cyberseats reserved) to view the live event.

Generating a playlist based on a data generation attribute

An example method involves determining an attribute associated with an audible version of a news story, wherein the attribute indicates a manner in which data representing the audible version of the news story was generated; using the determined attribute associated with the audible version of the news story as a basis to generate a playlist of a news program that includes the audible version of the news story; and transmitting the generated playlist to a client device.

Use of user consumption time to rank media suggestions
09805378 · 2017-10-31 · ·

A system receives a user request for a media item and identifies candidate media items for suggesting to the user with the media item. The system predicts a user consumption time for each candidate media item and selects a sub-set of the candidate media items that have higher predicted user consumption times. The system provides the requested media item with the sub-set of the candidate media items.

Use of an anticipated travel duration as a basis to generate a playlist

An example system may include a communication interface; a processor; and a non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon program instructions that when executed by the processor cause the server to perform of a set of functions. The set of functions may include determining an anticipated travel duration of a user of a client device, using the anticipated travel duration of the user as a basis to generate a playlist of a personalized news program for the user, and transmitting data representing the generated playlist to the client device.

LINEAR MEDIA SELECTION

In a substitutional media system, one of a set of media items is selected at a programme receiver for output within a predefined programming slot, based on profile data available at the receiver. Sets of the media items are scheduled to slots according to one or more constraints pertaining to that slot and/or to media items scheduled to other slots. The receiver may select a media item for output in a slot by resolving constraints with media items scheduled to other slots, or selected for output in other slots.
